We booked in with Tim as a family of four, Mum, Dad and two boys 11&14. We were looking for something close to York so we could visit easily, ditching the car and using public transport. As described the cottage is a 20 minute walk from the train station which takes just 10 minutes to York. Alternatively there’s a regular No10 bus service literally from the cottage to York. We didn’t use it but it seems frequent and reliable. The cottage is as described, lounge with log burner, kitchen dining room with a really nice family bathroom on the ground floor. Upstairs are two comfortable bedrooms, a double and a twin the twin having a tv. I’m really difficult to please and will take things to task when not as described or standard. Tim’s communication was timely and just enough which was terrific. Some much appreciated advice was left for us on arrival suggesting a few local amenities. Poppleton is lovely, cottage is great. If we’re anywhere near again we’ll definitely be back. Thanks Tim !

Great cottage: full of character and tastefully decorated to a high spec. with everything working beautifully. Kitchen well stocked with utensils, good heating, great shower and comfortable bedrooms. Record collection was a neat extra touch. Perfect as a family of four. Not sure I could think of anything to suggest as an improvement. Shops and pubs in the village within an easy walk, and very close to the P&R for accessing York itself. Many thanks!

A very attractive, comfortable and well equipped cottage. Easy access into York with public transport. Excellent pub with food close by and other facilities within the village. We will happily return when visiting family close by.

Hard to fault Tim’s place. I would say that it may not be suitable for elderly people, due to the steep staircase and the only bathroom being downstairs from the bedrooms. Otherwise this is five star accommodation across the road from a good pub and close to all amenities, including train service to local towns and cities, easy access to motorways and shopping. Nether Poppleton is a lovely village on the outskirts of York and Tim’s place is an excellent place to stay whilst exploring North Yorkshire.
