A cozy escape just 12 minutes from downtown Syracuse. It has everything an individual, couple or small family would need for a stay that is safe, private and affordable. Have a cup of coffee on the deck, surrounded by nature. Feel free to bring along the dog! Let me say up front: Some guests have liked this place, and some haven't. Those who like it, like it because: - it is cute/cozy/quaint/charming - it is close to Syracuse yet very peaceful and serene; you are surrounded by trees and nature - it has everything you need: stocked kitchen, two bedrooms, internet, workspace, heating, air conditioning, parking, deck, grill, laundry, etc. - it is a great value. For less than the cost of a hotel room, you get a whole house, deck and grill to enjoy with your family and dog. Help yourself to the coffee, tea, drinks and snacks, read a book, play a game, etc. Those who don't like it, might have been disappointed because: - Although it is a house, it is probably best to think of it as a "cabin". It is over 150 years old (apparently it was once an ice house), and as a result, there is a certain feeling to the house. - Related, you can encounter ants or mice. (We control for these things, but when you are surrounded by woods, and the house is that old, there is only so much that can be done.) - Some guests aren't necessarily looking for an "escape"-type property. The house/cabin is on a hill. There is a several-hundred-foot stone driveway leading up to the cabin. You can see deer, turkey, etc., as you drive up. At night, it is dark, and since there is no lighting on the driveway, you'll be relying on your car's headlights. - Two guests have commented that the house is "not as good" as the pictures show. It is true that we painted the house white (whereas the outside pictures were taken when it was blue). But the pictures of the interior are just, well, pictures we took of the real thing, as it is right now, in recent months. It is a photogenic space. The fireplace looks nice, there are wooden beams, etc. We don't know what we can do to make it look worse. :)

Great place to stay while passing through. This location is very peaceful. You are not secluded, yet you feel like you are due to the large property. Host was very responsive, flexible, and friendly! Check in was smooth. I really appreciated the complimentary snacks and drinks. Cozy home, great linens, washer and dryer. Home away from home! 💕
As far as airbnb goes, this was definitely a stay of all time. The house didn't match the pictures very well, with the most notable being the white house instead of blue. The shower drained rather slow, and there were constant noises coming from animals in the walls. We even had a mouse in the kitchen. It says dog friendly, but the stairs are more cat friendly than anything, so I would be careful. There are no lights in the living room save for stuck-on push lights and a few lamps, which isn't that big but it would've been nice to know about ahead of time. The driveway is only depicted by a sign on the road and no lights. Luckily no one else was at the house down the hill from us for long, since the driveway is only big enough for one car. There were a few scares with the home security randomly going off that worried my partner and I, but no break ins or anything crazy. All in all, the house was a place to stay for the week, but I don't think I would rent this place again.
Beautiful home in the woods. Henry and Billy were wonderful hosts, very responsive and helpful. The home was comfortable, clean, and well equipped. Would definitely stay again!
Everything about Henry’s place was exactly how it was described and looked exactly like the photos will stay again and definitely recommend this place to anyone.
The property is listed for sale and has some rough spots. The pictures in the listing and the original amenities described (I think they’ve been updated) were nicer than what was there when we arrived. By no means was the place deficient (aside from an issue initially with the Wi-Fi connectivity which was quickly resolved), but it was not as nice as we were expecting. All that said, Henry and his team (this seems to be a management company) were very responsive and did do a good job addressing our questions, concerns and issues with the property, but I think their hands were tied a bit given the actual ownership situation. The property is in a nice location up on a hill in the woods, and is walkable to a cute, somewhat sleepy little village down the hill. There’s a bar/restaurant, convenience store and a number of parks there, which is nice.
