The house lies at the edge of a small village called Skamnaki, only ten kilometers west from Githion, in the area of the southern east part of Peloponnese. Is only 45 minutes from the historical city of Sparta and 3hours and 15 minutes from Athens. The area of Mani is very famous, among other things, for its traditional stone villages. Skamnaki is one of those.

Wow! A retreat in an authentic mountain village. The house is beautifully done with everything you will need for your stay. Fruit trees and olive groves among old stone houses. Listen for the jackals at night in the valley below, awake to the roosters and have coffee overlooking the valley and sea! Meet Maria at the taverna and she will tell you what to eat. This is true silent, living, Greece! I want to live in Manos home forever!
I had an absolutely magnificent time in Manos house! It's so charming and you feel that Manos has put so much love in every detail. Nothing is missing! Great atmosphere, great views and so quite! Skamnaki is a quite remote village in the mountains and to the next main street it's around 10min. From there you reach a lot of beaches and restaurants and the bigger places like Gythio and Aeropoli. The tavern in Skamnaki is also absolutely worth a visit. The communication with Manos very kind and efficient at all times. This house is a jewel with a great host (thanks also Antonia for the super check-in) and I hope I can come again!
Beautiful well renovated house. Everything as good as the pictures. Lovely local restaurant within walking distance.
Manos’ house is quite unusual and I mean that in a good way. It is down a tight road in a hill town. The town itself has a wonderful tavern with amazing owners — we felt like the whole town took care of us. The location is well-situated to use as a home base for short excursions around the area. The ladder to the loft where our kids slept is fairly steep and the spiral staircase down to the lower level, where we slept, is equally as steep but overall made the house interesting. We suggest not following the sign for the “stone house” and parking near the church then walking to the house. Our car was not big but navigating the road that leads directly to the house is a challenge. The view from the terrace is amazing.
La casa in pietra è una meraviglia! Dettagli curatissimi e casa ben attrezzata anche per viverla, noi abbiamo anche cucinato due sere per godere della luna dal terrazzo. Posizione eccezionale e a due passi c’è una deliziosa taverna gestita da Maria che ci ha anche regalato le sue olive e il suo olio. Un posto magico.

As you may see at the main picture the porch offers you an endless view, over hills, other villages and the sea. You will experience a unique feeling of serenity and during the summer nights, due to the lack of luminosity pollution, you will be able to “touch” the shining stars!!
In order to reach Skamnaki you may come either from Athens through Sparta, heading to Githion, or from Kalamata, crossing magnificent sceneries, driving, most of the time next to the sea and passing through well-kept traditional villages. So is mandatory, in order to reach Skamnaki village to have your own transportation. A few meters from the house there is a big open space, where you may park your vehicle under a big mulberry tree.
