This is the perfect place to switch off, relax and reconnect with nature. ‘Weavers Nest’ is a stone cottage with river frontage situated in the Koue Bokkeveldt on the southern tip of the Cederberg Wilderness Area, some 250 km from Cape Town. Completely surrounded by mountains, it is a perfect location to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility the cottage offers. Ideal for quiet me time, reading, writing, chess, retreats, meditation, yoga, hiking, birding and swimming in the river in a safe and secure place. It is NOT a place for wild parties and loud music! The cottage is ‘Off the Grid”. Lighting is by paraffin, solar and battery lamps, a four plate gas stove and firewood for cooking, and gas fridge and freezer. A gas geyser supplies hot water to the bathroom and kitchen. A wood fired Donkey burner supplies hot water for a shower in the second bathroom within half an hour. The lounge has an open fire place for cooking and warmth and a BBQ area on the verandah.(NB PLEASE READ BELOW ON FIRE POLICY ). SUMMER Get your hiking, biking and other outdoor activities done by 11.00 AM as it can get very hot during the day, with temperatures sometimes in the late 30s and early 40s. Alternate the rest of the day between relaxing on the shady verandah and swimming in the river. The orchards on the surrounding farms are dripping with summer fruits and the aroma of flowering citrus trees is a treat. If you keep the doors and windows closed during the day, the cottage is well insulated and will remain cool inside for the rest of the day. Please be water wise during the summer months, and ensure to carry enough water with you during your outdoor activities!
