The Gerda is a unique place to stay in Scotland's most vibrant city. Close to the city centre and Glasgow's transport network, the Gerda is a fantastic base from which to explore the city's museums, art galleries, restaurants and nightlife. On it's unusual hilltop location, Speirs Wharf is surprisingly quiet despite being so close to the city centre. A stay on Gerda will give travellers a unique and authentic experience aboard a wide beam boat on Glasgow's Forth and Clyde Canal. Built in 2017, Gerda of Glasgow is a unique place to stay in one of Scotland's most vibrant cities. Gerda is a fixed accommodation and unfortunately is not available for touring. The Gerda itself is fitted out to a high standard with all the equipment and appliances you'd expect to find on an accommodation barge fitted out to a high standard. The 'Captain's Quarters' features a queen-sized bed on a raised platform. It has its own en suite bathroom with a shower. A built-in wardrobe provides all the storage you will need for your personal belongings. The 'Crew's Quarters' contains two single beds with a built-in wardrobe. The main bathroom is opposite. The boat is well heated by individually controlled radiators in each room and a solid fuel burner in the lounge to keep you warm. We will leave you one bag of wood free of charge and you can take whatever additional wood you like from our store next to the boat. There is an honesty box to help us cover the cost of supplying logs and coal. The whole boat displays some of our artwork collected from galleries, artisanal markets, and art schools from around Scotland and further afield in South Asia, South East Asia, and North Africa. There are steps down into the boat, so unfortunately it is not wheelchair friendly.
