Solar-powered, tree-top cabin. Listen to the sounds of the hippos and hyenas at night and enjoy the company of giraffes and zebras during the day. With endless views over the South African bush. The cottage has a bedroom upstairs and a sitting and work area, all open plan. Next to the deck there is a toilet with an insanely good view. Downstairs you will find an equipped (camping style) kitchen and outdoor space with a covered shower garden next to it. There is a fire pit and bbq/braai facilities (please bring your own wood and charcoal). The cottage has a ceiling fan for cooling.

Little heaven if you are a Bushman
absolutely loved our stay.. the hosts are amazing, the location incredible, the unit was beautiful, well made and had everything we needed. very accommodating to our needs and more than willing to go the extra mile. 100% recommend then and their beautiful accomodation
We stayed at the Mudhouse tree house for Easter. We LOVED the rugged road which put our 4 x 4 through its paces! Bernadette welcomed us and introduced us to the most magical, amazing, rustic and beautifully, thoughtfully decorated. Indeed it is made from natural materials which added to the charm and relaxation! We felt totally private, as we could not see any other building from Mudhouse 2, only the African Bush, with its characteristics sounds. We heard animals (giraffe, hippos) but never saw them. We did see a herd of Nyala and Impala who were grazing nearby. Also Wildebees and Zebra were on the road leading in. I read a book on the hammock (glorious)! The outdoor shower was absolutely lovely! Thank you Bernadette and Martijn for hosting us at your little piece of Paradise!
What a magical spot! Just the unwind we needed in the middle of the bush. Totally private, peaceful and views to die for. Amazing hosts and incredible experience we will always treasure.

The hut is situated in between &Beyond's Phinda Private Game Reserve and the Greater Ukuwela Nature reserve, about 30 minutes North of Hluhluwe town. The Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park (Memorial gate) and the Mkuze Park are both within driving distance from the hut (45 minutes). Due to the hut's central location, both St Lucia and Sodwana Bay are within driving distance from the hut (1 hour) and ideal destinations for day visits.

We are Martijn and Bernadette, both Dutch, loving life, nature and Zululand. After travelling around and living on two continents we ended up at this perfect spot. We are passionate about living and building off-grid, sustainable and responsible. And although we are not finished with building our earth-bag house, we do live in it and love the feel of it. We enjoy living in nature and having the wild animals around us every day. It is great to be able to share a piece of heaven with like-minded people that love being in the outdoors and enjoy an adventure and simple accommodation.
