Lovely place to stay in Portsmouth! Peaceful and spacious. Ashton was lovely and his bar, Soursop , well worth a visit !

Our month-long stay at “Success” was overall a smashing success. The top floor of a two-story villa is perched on a hillside in the Granvillia section of Portsmouth, overlooking the town and the harbor, and in the distance the volcanic humps of Cabrits Natl Park. On a clear day the misty hills of Guadeloupe arise in the distance. The apartment is spacious and well laid out with quality materials and finish. Most of our time was spent on the veranda, taking in the views, the breezes, and the buzzing night life (insects and reptiles). The house is very convenient by car (not by foot) to Portsmouth cafes, bars, outdoor market, and groceries. Note that Portsmouth, though the second largest city, is small (6000?) and has few conveniences by Western standards. The two grocery stores are more like mini-marts. The closest real supermarket is in Roseau (50 minutes) in the Old Market area. Credit cards are rarely accepted anywhere in Dominica, so cash is necessary and can become an issue. Most
