Elizabeth is a wonderful host, quick to respond, & generously sharing her local knowledge from living there herself for many years. We went straight to the best restaurants, groceries, markets - a great shortcut to slip into local life. Really authentic local cooking, all great value. Fantastic fresh seafood, and if you’re coming from the UK the local fruit and veg is so full of flavour! There isn’t a huge amount of English spoken but everyone is super helpful and tolerant of limited attempts at Italian. The house is a lovely mix of history with simple, modern renovations. Views out of the window for sunsets over the ocean are a treat every day. It’s very peaceful during the day, and enjoyably bustling at night. We were a bit daunted at first by the amount of steps to get around town, but our 80 yr old fellow traveller managed with her walking stick. To keep fit take the steps all the way up & down the hill to the beach - or take the minibus for a hilarious experience of local life!

La casa di Elizabeth è situata nel centro storico di Pisciotta, su due piani, è una vera perla, con una vista unica sul mare che ogni giorno regala tramonti irripetibili! Ovviamente essendo nel centro storico, vanno messi in conto gradini e scomodità nel trasporto bagagli, ma ne vale assolutamente la pena !

We travelled with our 6 year old daughter and everyone really enjoyed the location. The cleaning lady let us in and was extremely nice. Place was clean, cozy and had the most amazing view. It’s tucked away in a small pedestrian street but close enough to the town center and restaurants. Elizabeth was very helpful for point outs and everyone in the town was extremely nice to us. Super scenic and cozy! We’d love to go back!

I love to travel, to drink wine, to cook, to eat, to read and experience new cultures, environments, friends and ideas. We had over 12 years of visits to Pisciotta before purchasing and renovating Casa San Marko. We lived in Italy for a year in 2001. We lived in Pisciotta for 9 of those months. Our children went to school here. We all made life long friends here. As a family, ever since, we have conducted a love affair with the village, its people, the wine, food and environment and the friends that we have made from around the world. We hope that our guests find a way to fall into the gentle rhythms of village life when staying in Casa San Marko. In warm weather, our days are spent visiting one of the surrounding beaches for the morning followed by lunch in a local restaurant then, retiring from the afternoon heat for a siesta for an hour or two. Later perhaps some shopping for food, cooking, a drink in the piazza or a bar with our friends, watching the sun melt into the sea, eating late, going to bed in the wee small hours, saying goodnight to the moon as it illuminates the water below, and restoring ourselves with sleep before starting it all over again. Our only warning about visiting Pisciotta, is to be sure that you have completed everything you need to do previous to coming here. It is impossibly difficult to leave.
