自我介绍

Hi there! I have just started hosting on Airbnb and, as a fellow traveller, am really excited about being involved in the programme. I’ve been renting two rooms in my house to long term lodgers for nearly 10 years now and am well used to hosting to visitors from all over the world. I’ve already enjoyed sharing my home with travellers from Spain, Brazil, France, Italy, Holland, Turkey, Burma (Myanmar), India, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Russia, Japan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the US. I've made some really great friends in the process and am looking forward to meeting more people from around the world. I would describe myself as fun-loving, easygoing, inquisitive, sensitive, creative and open minded. I’m also very adventurous and love travelling. It’s in my blood. My family moved around a fair bit when I was a child; we lived in England and Australia, returning to Ireland when I was in my teens. This has given me a broad perspective on life and is probably one of the reasons I am so at ease with a multicultural and somewhat bohemian lifestyle! I’ve travelled extensively as an adult too. I can’t remember how many countries I’ve visited. The number isn’t important. I’m more interested in the experience and the memories that I take away with me. When I visit a country I prefer to spend time with the local people, absorbing the culture and atmosphere of the place. South East Asia is a favourite for me. I feel at home there and have even tried to recreate a traditional Indonesian ‘mandi’ in my bathroom. The builders thought I was crazy! I am more settled now and love homemaking. I never thought I would hear myself saying that! So I love cooking, (I can’t say I love cleaning), and I love the idea that people feel safe and comfortable in my home. I tend to go with the flow with people. If you like to talk, I’ll respond and be very chatty, but if you want to keep to yourself, you’ll find that I will give you space. I won’t intrude. I am also passionate about my career. I work as a marine biologist and run a small non profit called Marine Dimensions that is dedicated to education, research and conservation for the marine environment. I have a few other things on the go too; I work part time as a TV background actor and have worked on some interesting productions, including Penny Dreadful and Vikings. I also work as an English Language teacher, providing full immersion tuition to non native speakers in my home. Some of my other interests include music (I play the piano), hiking and trekking, snorkelling and diving, learning languages, peoplewatching over a cup of coffee, watching sunsets, the list goes on…!
