Maya Beach is a small community on the Placencia Peninsula, which is known for its 14 miles of natural beachfront, excellent restaurants, and fun beach bars. It's a perfect base for tours when you're contemplating jungle and ruins tours as well as water activities like fishing, diving or snorkeling. Maya Beach is 8 miles from Placencia Village and 4 miles from Seine Bight Village.

We recommend having a car while you stay in Maya Beach, although it's not necessary. There are taxis available to call, and there are a few public bus runs every day between Maya Beach and Placencia Village. Tour operators will normally pick you up in Maya Beach for their excursions.
However, having a car or a golf cart gives you more flexibility to move around the peninsula and operate on your own schedule. Golf carts are limited to the peninsula, but if you rent a car, you can drive yourselves to some of the national parks including archeological sites and hiking trails. Guides add perspective and know the lay of the land, so we do recommend using licensed Belizean tour guides whenever possible.
