Our family was happy and pleased to stay at Kalum and Chanuka place. Their family is lovely ineed and they live near by and are always available to help. In the restaurant they provide (honestly!) best traditional food in Tangalle! We had been enjoying breakfast numerous times, since we stayed there almost for two months. The house was tidy and clean, cozy, with rustic and same time modern atmosfere. Kitchen is equipt with all amenities you need for long term staying. Garden. Garden! Our favourite place to be from top of the morning until it's time to go to sleep. Beautiful flowering bushes, outside shower, chilling spot with good fan above to cool you down during hottest hours of the day. In our garden we have seen peacocks, squirrels, green parrots, geckos, lizards, monkeys. Even being in a village feels like you are in the wild nature. We come to Sri Lanka not the first time and we know about genuine and kind nature of Sinhala people. This place is definitely embodiment of it!

The cottage was a wonderful place to stay and in a peaceful neighborhood just a short walk from Goyambokka and Silent beaches. Really enjoyed the private seating areas outside the cottage where you can work comfortably and enjoy their beautiful garden. The host's family is warm and friendly, and they prepare such delicious breakfasts and dinners. Special thanks to Kalum for being so welcoming and for all his very helpful local suggestions!

Stayed here with my wife and 3 kids for 9 days. First time in Sri Lanka. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. If you’re looking for a place with great value for your money and no frills, this is a good option. What we liked: Very nice host and family, very considerate, amazing food. We loved the garden and outdoor shower. The indoor spaces match the photos. Beds were clean. For an additional cost we had breakfast and dinner on site everyday. Some of the best food I’ve had was here. Delicious and healthy food. The host arranged transportation for us from the airport which made it very easy for us to reach the place. The apartment is very private (pretty much a stand alone little house with a nice garden). Walking distance to a beautiful beach, tuk tuks easily available to reach other beaches nearby. What could be better: The AC was not working in one of the rooms, but we managed with the ceiling and pedestal fans that were in the room.

Amazing place, assures everything that is needed to relax, the quality/price ratio is impressive. I appreciated private garden and shower outside the most. The house is located in quiet, not very touristy area, very close to the Silent Beach - the most beautiful beach I have ever seen which gives the impression of private beach. Host is good, warm person, very helpful and friendly. I wish I could come back here again. Strongly recommend this place!! :)

I chose this rental because it had a yard to relax in and connect with nature and hot water. Much needed after traveling the coast, a place to rest. Lots of plants and animals! Check out the rest of the property with the Kalum to learn about the Ayurvedic plants he is growing and other plants they have. Kalum and family are excellent cooks and will prepare a variety of meals for you if you want. Highly recommend you take dinner with them at least once! Water heater broke my first night, and they had it fixed as soon as I told them the next day. Very proactive and helpful with this and any other request or need I had like extra bedding or airing out anything that was musty. The place is conveniently located to the beaches and main road but you hear none of the noise. It really is peaceful and comfortable. Loved having the bedroom windows open and looking out at the tree and sky when I woke up every morning. Wifi was really good, too! Thanks Kalum and family!
