The PERFECT place to get away! Located with a deck and backyard facing a sometimes moving river (it was when I was there), the accommodations are just as presented only better. From the hosts proactively providing a detailed set of directions and pictures about how to find this little gem (my GPS worked fine but not all do) to the welcoming lights to the amenities artfully arranged and thoughtfully provided (coffee, tea, snacks, and even a tray full of smore fixings!) this was just what I was looking for and more. While I'm sure there are hikes nearby, I chose to meander the neighborhood and then along a creek in National Forest preserve. Once I'd parked, there was no need to drive as I'd stopped in Payson to purchase groceries. Linens are crisp, fresh and clean; the bed I used was very comfortable. Bath robes are even provided! Towels look brand new. It does feel like you're surrounded by trees and nature... a few neighbors and their pets. Reailly appreciated this respite! A treat

Johnny is an absolute A+ host - highly proactive and detailed in communication. We especially appreciated the thoughtful additions for those with little ones (coloring book, highchair, kids, cutlery, etc.) as we had our toddler with us. The cabin has been beautifully decorated, and each detail - down to things like the coffee maker and brand of shampoo – has been carefully curated. We would highly recommend the Highline trail out of the Washington Park trailhead just 15 minutes away from the cabin!

We had an awesome time at Johnny's house. It is nestled in the woods, by a creek. It unexpectedly snowed in April and the temperatures were below freezing but the wood burning stove and the heating in bedrooms kept us very cozy. We used the house as a base for Petrified Firest park but Payson also had a lot to offer including fossils and minerals to hunt, and the restaurants surprised on the upside as well (thanks for suggestions!). Hiking is amazing and the area, and we saw lots of animals. Kids loved it. The Scandinavian design of the house is soothing and great for unplugging, although still has amenities, like cool-looking smart tv, if you need them. The host was super responsive. The house was very clean, there was even no dust under furniture, imagine that!! (we have allergies in the family so always have to check) Thank you, Johnny! We'd love to come again.
