Vila Nova de Poiares is located in the centre of central Portugal (a region between Lisbon and Port). It is a Portuguese town in the Coimbra district, with about 3,800 inhabitants. It is located in a beautiful valley between the mountains of Carvalho and Magarrufe.
This area is not the usual tourist destination, however it is one of the best kept tourism secrets. Here, in the heart of Portugal, with its unique blend of artistic, cultural and historical sites (including 3 UNESCO's World Heritage Sites), you will discover the authentic soul of this country.
Imagine a place of never-ending sunshine; long, curvy roads on the side of endless mountains overlooking sparkling rivers. Houses are like grapes and cascade down the side of mountains. The best way to visit Central Portugal is by renting a car. To get the best deals and to ensure you get the vehicle you want, it is best to rent the car online before coming to Portugal.
There are regular trains that travel from Lisbon or Porto to Coimbra and from there, you can then take an Uber, taxi or sometimes a bus to Vila Nova de Poiares, but once here, it would be difficult to visit without a vehicle.
There are also private shuttles that pick up people from the airports. Please message me if you want a shuttle and I will

Please note that there are only a few taxis in Vila Nova de Poiares. There are no Uber in this area.
