Private Transportation
In order to see the true charm of the island, I always recommended renting a car for at least a day. This allows you to see places you may not on tours, and at your own pace. It also gives you one other reason to interact with Bajans when you get lost! Waze and other popular map apps work very well here for navigating the island and we’ll hook you up with reliable car rental agencies.
Public Transportation
A bus stop is just a 5min walk from the apartment (buses come about every 5min) and travel to Oistins, Worthing Beach, Rockley (aka Accra) Beach, Carlisle Bay and Bridgetown (our capital). From there you can take other buses to other parts of the island.
There are 3 types of buses available in Barbados; large blue government buses, medium sized yellow private buses and small white private vans (called ZR vans). Each of the buses cost BBD$3.50 per person and they give you the opportunity to meet locals who will happily start a conversation with you about anything! We Bajans (as Barbadians are affectionately known) are a friendly bunch!
