Villa Ceiba is a gem of a property and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a large group that included 5 young adults and 4 parents, and we ended up needing all 6 rooms. Having such space (and bathrooms) made for a very comfortable and leisurely stay. The views are truly amazing: jungle down to the ocean, including Manuel Antonio park's Cathedral Point. From the pool, the deck, the kitchen and even our bedrooms, we spent hours watching the different monkeys, as well as the ever-changing sky. The descriptions of the driveway do not exaggerate! It can be slippery as well as steep and would be hazardous for anyone with balance issues or difficulty walking. A 4x4 is a must if renting a car. There are also a few taxis in town that are 4x4, and Laura was often available to help shuttle people up. The driveway shouldn't be a deal-breaker if considering staying here, but it also shouldn't be a surprise. The walk up the driveway and then to the main road of Manuel Antonio is 1/3 of a mile; the grade makes it seem longer! But it's a nice walk, especially if you are looking for exercise, and we usually saw scarlet macaws and monkeys. Once at the main road, there are shops, markets, restaurants, and an ATM easily accessible. Also from the main road it's another mile, mostly downhill, to the main entry point for Espadilla beach, and the entrance to Manuel Antonio is about another 1/2 mile past that. For those who like to cook or simply prefer to eat in, the kitchen at Villa Ceiba is well-stocked and functional. We were happy to have basic (and then some) spices, oils, and condiments already there, as well as all the cooking tools and utensils we needed. We ate all our breakfasts and most of our dinners at the house. This included the night we had chef Roberth prepare a sushi dinner for my wife's birthday. I highly recommend this! Not only was the food amazing (and plentiful), but it was awesome to not have to get all 9 of us organized to go out for dinner AND we didn't have to prepare or clean anything. Laura was a big reason why our stay was so enjoyable. The day we arrived, after a long drive from Monteverde, she drove our bags down the driveway and, once settled in the house, took us to the main supermarket and helped us locate what we were looking for as we loaded up for the week. This alone saved us a ton of time, energy, and money. Throughout our stay Laura helped with transportation, setting up excursions, and offering suggestions. One of our favorite activities of our entire trip was visiting Nauyaca waterfalls with Paddle 9, and Laura helped to set this up on short notice. We really appreciated Laura's extensive network in the area. Laura was quick to respond, both before and during our stay, when little questions or issues came up, as they inevitably do with a group of our size staying for a week. We were not ready to leave Villa Ceiba and hope it won't be too long before we can return.

Villa Ceiba is very nice! There were a few things that threw myself and my group off. Please be aware that the house is very open and you can see into each others bedrooms and showers- this can be very uncomfortable. The host, Laura , mentioned upon arrival that there were a group of 10 guys there the week before us and that they recked her house. Well, it seems like we were on high watch because of them. She walked right into the house EVERY morning without knocking - which is invasive since we’re renting the house. We were repeatedly lectured about the use of the air conditioner, fan, and balcony door being opened. At least one day she told us she went through all of our rooms when we were on an excursion to check these things … not sure how many more days this happened. Laura cut the lights and fan off on two guest sitting in a room having a conversation and walked back out. She questioned 5 of us on who was sleeping in a specific room regarding bedsheets that are 10 years old (No exaggeration, she told us this herself). The driveway is very steep and long. Be very careful if you ever have to walk down it. If you rent a vehicle, make sure it is an SUV/ Truck with 4x4 or else you won’t make it up and down. Majority of the time Laura picked us up and drove us up and down. The housekeeper, Norma, is very nice and helpful providing anything we asked. Be aware she only spot cleans. There are cob webs and dust on other things like pictures and ceiling fans. Chef Manuele was AMAZING and would certainly recommend him if you stay at this property.

We enjoyed our stay at Laura’s home. The hill getting to the house was difficult but the views and wildlife make it worth it. Laura was very involved during our stay.

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this beautiful Quepos getaway for a great vacation and reset. Laura was a gracious, knowledgeable host and provided on call resources at every juncture. The villa itself was well equipped and spacious for 6 guys to have our own separate, private living quarters during our stay. The pool was a great addition as well. I would strongly recommend Quepos and Villa Ceiba for any future travelers considering the Costa Rican jungle.
