what a gem! we were 3 couples staying in two apartments (a 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom) inside lovely Casa Carmelo. It is new, beautiful, comfortable and an oasis of rest during our first visit to Antigua. Finding it what a little of a challenge but once there, our two hosts, Rogeio and Ricardo were AMAZING! they took care of our every need and were amazing as "concierge" securing for us transportation, groceries, etc. They were a delight and made the trip that much more memorable. The remote part of Antigua protected us from "night" noises such as tourists/cars/parties, etc. and all we heard at night were birds and the wind in the trees. Magical. It's a nice 15 minute walk to the center plaza - The only thing that could have been better - apartments do not have airconditioning, which is not needed at night,it gets rather chilly. The days were warm (low 80's) and getting ready for a formal event without airconditioning was a little uncomfortable. a minor inconvenience if any

The place is as modern as the pictures what it does not show is the smell and the small size of the bathrooms and complex. All four units are on top of one another. Each master bedroom upstairs is directly on level and visible to all the other units. There are semi transparent sun shades but you can still see people especially at night when inside lights are on. Additionally, there was one night that a family with little kids stayed and that place is like an echo chamber for noise. The other piece not shown in the pictures is the smell. The idea of indoor outdoor living is great but it down right stinks like a hot dirty greenhouse at the end of the day. This place needs a full time dehumidifier running at the very least. I asked for a fan to help circulate things and that marginally helped. The on the ground helpers were nice but didn’t speak English. Lastly, Directions need to be given that this is in a gated community with a 24/7 guard. That’s a positive but made it hard to find!

a fantastic airbnb in a secure street and an ideal location. sebastian and his staff were helpful and responsive - even spotted us quetzales while we were having bank issues. really went the extra mile and very worth the price.
