Marion Lake is so beautiful and peaceful. Rich in history! Marion County Park and Lake is the result of two FDR New Deal programs that were born during the 1920's depression. The Civilian Conservation Corps and Work's Progress Administration's goals were to put men to work and conserve our natural resources. We are just a short distance from the water. Our little cabin is perfect for a get away! You can fish (with a license), kayak or stroll. Our Get Away Cabin is a one bedroom fully furnished home that looks out on the glistening lake. The cabin has TV and internet available as well as fully equipped kitchen, living room, one bath with washer and dryer, one bedroom with a queen bed and two couches that close to the size of twin beds. The kitchen has a cool vintage stove, plus standard refrigerator, microwave, Keurig as well as an additional coffee maker, and a toaster. All dishes and pans are available for use. There is a cute deck just outside the dining area that has several chairs and an inviting firepit. (please never pour water on hot fire in the firepit or it will crack). We are just the right distance to the water. (just a short walk) You are welcome to fish (they do stock it and have a heated dock close to the office, you will need a license which you can get in the office), kayak, swim (in swimming designated area) or walk about. No motor boats are allowed on this lake unless you own property and the property owner's name is on the boat. But Marion Reservoir is only 6.2 miles from Marion Lake. This reservoir is really large. There is a company that will rent and deliver kayaks to visitors for daily use. In our cabin are more details about them. The Elgin Hotel in Marion has a wonderful, tasty restaurant that has gotten lots of good reviews. It is a nice, interesting, historical hotel if you don't feel like cooking. There are a few other places to eat as well. You will find more information in our book in our cabin. We just love our little cabin. We hope you do too!
