Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. A cozy 1942 Dutch colonial is your cottage in the woods and ticket to the sights and sounds of nature. Bright natural light fills this house, original wood floors give it charm, a pull-out sofa adds convenience for additional sleeping, a large 4 seasons porch allows comfortable access to birdwatching and peacefulness. Located on a quiet street with a hiking trail at the end, close to two parks, and 5 minutes from the quaint downtown Red Wing.
Very nice home for it being built in 1942 as a lot of the home shows and feels it's age. I would recommend some simple upgrades for a little homier feel and the yard was in need of cleanup. But the setup, accommodations, beds and furniture were great! For 3 guys the fridge was definitely too small but for a couple it would be perfect! I would recommend and even stay again for future fishing trips for a few people!
Worked perfectly for what we needed, house was clean and stocked with everything we needed for the weekend, every year I bring my kids to Treasure Islands water park in March and I think we found our place to stay while here, thanks again.
We enjoyed staying at this house, located in a quiet neighborhood close to several grocery stores, and an easy, short drive to the downtown area. Sunny and bright, comfortable beds. The kitchen was stocked with just what we needed, including coffee maker and coffee grounds (which we really appreciated!).
Find The Bird Perch on a charming and quaint street in this quiet Red Wing neighborhood. Nestled against a natural forest, the beauty of nature is found everywhere. Many types of birds are bountiful during all 4 seasons, and many varieties of wild vegetation and flowers surround the property.
At the end of Wilkinson street, find the trailhead for Red Wing Memorial Park Trail and hike up some lush forest for beautiful views over the Mississippi River and city of Red Wing at the top of the bluff.
Colvill Park (5 min away) offers many park amenities such as: boat launch, pavilions and picnic tables, playgrounds, discovery garden, tennis courts, event building, shuffleboard and horseshoe, walking trail (.93 miles) around park, and many picnic areas along the Mississippi River.
He Mni Can (Barn Bluff) is a well-known natural feature along the Mississippi River. It is significant for its geology and association with prehistoric and native peoples. This hike takes you to a 340ft climb and spectacular views of the Mississippi River on one side and the city of Red Wing on the other.
Wisconsin is a short drive across the bridge spanning the Mississippi River and downtown Red Wing boasts many charming shops and eateries.
We recommend visiting Red Wing's website for more information and to get a digital copy of the full Red Wing Visitor's Guide.
Downtown Red Wing is a short drive West on Seventh Street. Headed east on Seventh is access to Colvill Park. The location is also off the US-61 and US-63 which provides quick access to Wisconsin.
