I am Pollyanna Fountain, a 54 year old mother of five beautiful daughters. I am also NeeNee to five wonderful grandchildren, with one more on the way! I married my high school sweetheart, Mike Fountain, 36 years ago. I have lived in Harrison , Arkansas for 41 years. When I was 13 years old, I lived in a large neighborhood in Pearl Mississippi. My Dad, an adventure craving business man, ran across a classified add in the Jackson, Mississippi newspaper. The add boasted of beautiful mountains and creeks in the Ozarks. He had to see this for himself. So he took a road trip to Arkansas. It was love at first sight. I remember hearing him describe Harrison with it’s creek running right through the middle of town. At 13 it sounded like a fairytale. He secured a job , and came back for his family. I was in 7 th grade at the time, and was very excited about our families new adventure. He bought a house towards Omaha, Arkansas, and I began my fairytale life in the Ozarks. Fast forward 16 years. I am married and expecting daughter number four. My husband’s best friend, an older man in the cattle business , has begun teaching my husband what years of hard work and experience has taught him. While Mike worked long hours farming and absorbing every bit of farm knowledge he could, I raised and homeschooled our daughters. As the girls got older he began introducing them to the farm. He first got them a cow to milk. Later they were able to put together their own herd of beef cattle, which they still run together with their families. With the help of our daughters , we have also started, Natural State Beef. Natural State Beef Is an Arkansas whole cow ground beef business, created to provide Arkansans quality whole cow ground beef that taste like you remember hamburger as a kid. our focus is on quality. You can now find natural state beef at harps grocery stores all across Arkansas, as well as other local businesses in North Arkansas. We were able to purchase part of his best friend and mentor’s farm, Red Robin Farm. Red Robin Farm was established by Noah Dearing and his son Joe. Joe was my husband’s best friend and business mentor. After Joe passed away in winter of 2017 the farm grew even more special , as it held the memories of a gifted man willing to impart his knowledge to another generation. Red Robin Farmhouse came up for sale in early spring of 2021. Knowing it had been part of the original Red Robin Farm, and knowing Joe had lived in it with his new bride many years earlier, it made sense to purchase it. Thus began our year and a half long restoration project. We now had a beautiful setting with an adorable farmhouse! But through the years almost every bit of charm had been replaced with “ new”. As the “ new” was pealed away, bits of charming past were discovered. Layers of vintage wallpaper were uncovered. Newspapers dated 1913, old Baptist newsletters, and government commodity grain sacks had been used as insulation. Old peanut cans and Folgers coffee cans were discovered. It was fun to see the different treasures from the past . As restoration took place , great effort was put into old school craftsmanship. Our builder, Mark Ramer, put so much care into the details. He made the hardwood floors, stairs, window frames, banister, butcher block counter, and cabinets all himself. Old time quality became the obvious theme. From the beginning of our renovation I knew I wanted the name of our Airbnb to be “Red Robin Farmhouse “. But, as restoration took place, my granddaughter and I would scheme about out sleepovers we would have at the farmhouse. Eventually the house gained it’s nickname,”The NeeNee House “. It’s still affectionately called that by those who were around for the restoration process. Truthfully, it will probably always be the NeeNee House to me. But, because of it’s rich heritage it is officially called, “Red Robin Farmhouse “. Farms are magical. Happiness just happens on a farm. We have had so many wonderful times on our farm. We have watched our girls grow up. We have had two of their weddings on the farm. We have had birthdays, camp outs, cookouts, and outdoor movie nights. The list can go on and on. It is my dream that by opening my farmhouse up as an Airbnb, that our farm can make happiness happen for others. As I created “Red Robin Farmhouse “ my goal was to have a place for families to stay while discovering the magical Ozarks I discovered as a 13 year old girl. I want the walls to be filled with laughter and love. I want lasting memories made as you step back in time to a simpler way of life.
