The nearby stunning coastal walks, sandy beach and array of independent shops, cafes and restaurants make Kerensa a wonderful holiday home for two; you will want to come back year after year. On entering this delightful home you will be greeted by the plush double bedroom which invites a peaceful night's sleep. It is accompanied by an en-suite shower room. There is even a handy washing machine hidden under the stairs, allowing you to keep on top of those sandy clothes! Head up to the first floor where you will find a light and spacious open-plan living area with vaulted ceilings. After long days exploring the local area, relaxing on the beach or taking your four-legged friend for a nice long walk; come home and get on the comfortable sofa to enjoy a cosy night in. The well-equipped kitchen is stylishly designed and contains everything needed to prepare a wonderful home-cooked meal, which can be enjoyed over the dining table or through the french doors out onto the wonderful decked balcony. Also available to book at this charming seaside location are: Rosebud (sleeps 4), The Cube (sleeps 4) and Rosevilla Farmhouse (sleeps 6). Perfect as a group booking for special celebration or gathering. Additional Information: One well-behaved dog is welcome (a small additional charge). Travel cot and highchair available on request.
I booked this place for my parents to stay with their little dog. They had a lovely time and thought the location was ideal, it is within walking distance to the local amenities and beach front. The communication between myself and host was extremely good they were always prompt with their response to any questions I had. Would book again.
Located next to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is the lovely seaside village of Portreath. This delightful resort has a varied selection of independent shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes; such as The Hub, a great place to enjoy lunch right on the seafront. Don't forget to explore Portreath's historic harbour which is part of the UNESCO's World Heritage Site.
Portreath is home to a lovely golden, sandy beach which is popular for swimming, surfing and all kinds of water sports! Why not learn to surf at the Portreath Surfing School, where you can also hire surf and water sports equipment alongside wetsuits. At low tide, take a wild swim or try your hand at a spot of Cornish crabbing in the rock pools which can be found just by the Harbour wall. A few hundred metres offshore is the iconic Gull Rock, which as the name suggests is somewhat of a haven for seabirds of all kinds.
Cornwall Gold can be found just down the road and is home to the unique Tolgus Mill heritage site, the largest jewellery collection in Cornwall and is set in 18 acres of beautiful Cornish landscape. On-site you can find lots of award-winning family fun such as Pick-A-Pearl, The Bear Works, Create and Paint Pottery or even a round of Krazy Golf! Be sure to grab a bite to eat at the Cornish Pantry restaurant, where you can famously get a Full Cornish Breakfast served up on a traditional miner's shovel!
Looking for something adventurous? Stithians Lake is a great place to windsurf, paddleboard, kayak and sail. You can bring your own equipment, hire it on site or book a lesson with one of their qualified instructors. For more water based fun head south to Kernow Adventure Park and spend an afternoon at their Aquapark, perfect for the whole family.
Soak up some local history by heading further west to explore stunning mines such as Geevor Tin Mine in Pendeen or stay nearby and head to Kresen Kernow, which is home to the world's largest collection of documents, books, maps and photographs related to Cornwall's history. Heartlands is also only a short drive away and offers mining attractions, botanical gardens and a lovely cafe.
Looking to explore more in nature? The South West Coastal Path is quite literally on your doorstop! Perfect place for a family day out, hike to iconic sites such as Wheal Coates or Godrevy Lighthouse. Or perhaps take a drive and visit the stunning Penrose Water Gardens, set across 6 acres of marshland and woodland, containing over 100 varieties of plants.
Don't forget to also visit the stunning Tehidy Country Park; only a few minutes' drive away and features 250 acres of peaceful woodlands and lakes to explore, where you can also swing some clubs at the picturesque 18 hole golf course.
