We enjoyed our 6 day stay in Mona’s suite. The suite was very clean and well equipped. The adjustable bed was so comfortable. Communication and check in was easy and seamless. Thank you, Mona
This studio was cute, comfortable, and had everything I needed. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking. Thanks for a great place to stay!
This was our 3rd time staying here. We love this location and it’s close to restaurants and the downtown area. The hosts are very responsive and live right next door on the property. The unit is always clean and ready when we arrive. We already booked future stays and highly recommend this little gem of a find. We felt very safe and welcomed.
Mona and Dan are such spectacular hosts. I needed a place to stay for a month after having moved out of my prior home. Dan gave me a quick but detailed tour and made sure I was comfortable. I spent much of my time inside working, but the few times I needed to interact with my hosts, they answered within minutes. I even got to eat some delicious eggs from their small flock of chickens! I had a bunch of blueberries that I fed them outside the back door, and it was fun to watch them while I worked. Downtown Forest Grove is only 3 blocks away, the best bakery (Slow Rise) is two blocks, and you can easily access Pacific University. I would definitely recommend Mona and Dan's place to anyone whether it is a short or long term stay. Thank you both for your kindness and comfort during my rough patch!
Walker-Naylor District
The Walker-Naylor National Register Historic District is north of the downtown and west of Pacific University. The area is residential containing some of the oldest houses in Forest Grove.
Many of Forest Grove's local historic landmarks are located in this neighborhood. Thomas G. Naylor and the Reverend Elkanah Walker settled donation land claims west and north of Harvey Clark, respectively. Both gave land to found the Tualatin Academy. Many of the names connected to the houses are repeated on the downtown commercial buildings. The area contained a small commercial district on its southeast edge that was devastated by a fire in 1919.
Historic Downtown
Street Car
The Historic Downtown District is centered at the intersection of Pacific Avenue and Main Street. It was listed on the National Register in 2020. From the intersection, the historic core runs north and south along Main Street and east and west along Pacific Avenue.
The late 1880s brought a boom to Forest Grove with the arrival of land speculators and developers. The "Gay Nineties" saw the development of electricity and water facilities in Forest Grove. Much of the brick downtown was developed during this period. The names of the buildings repeat in the names of the grander houses in Forest Grove. The downtown core, fortunately, avoided the fire of 1919 and survives today very much intact.
