Chrisp Street market is a 6 minute walk away with open-air market stalls selling everything you can think of for good prices as well as plenty of indoor shops.
A 7 minute bus ride (or a 20 mins walk) will take you past the historic Billingsgate fish market (a great place to buy fish if you don't mind getting up early), through the iconic Canada Square with some impressive high-rise buildings where you will find an ice-rink as well as many bars and restaurants.
You may also like to visit the Canary Wharf underground shopping centre with a large Waitrose and multitude of well known shop brands.
A few minutes walk NW from Canada Square will take you the Museum of London Docklands which is free to visit and has artefacts from the earliest inhabitants of area (from pre-Roman times) and covers the rich history of the London docks through to modern times.

The Greenwich Pensioner is well serviced with no less that 3 DLR stations within a few minutes walking distance (All Saints, Blackwall and Poplar) as well as a very good bus service (including an all night service) with two stops very close by.
Canary Wharf is about 20 minutes away on foot.
Oxford Street is about a 35 minute journey via public transport from Blackwall DLR.
The Excel exhibition centre is 20 minutes away by public transport, or 7 minutes by car.
The O2 Arena is also close by - around 25 minutes away by public transport or 15 minutes by car.
There is a cable car connecting Excel to the O2 Arena which is a great way to see both venues in one trip.
