Our Airbnb is a unique getaway, where you will be able to detox from your digital life and reconnect with yourself, friends, family, a good book and a glass of wine. For the writers, this is the perfect place to avoid distractions and focus on your craft in a tranquil setting. The house is within 20 minutes drive of Girraween National Park and 15 minutes from the adorable little town, Tenterfield. It is also located right in the middle of the Granite Belt region that hosts over 50 wineries. Our home has been carefully curated to suit many different needs. On the journey to the property, you will be driving through the gorgeous Australian countryside of the Southern Downs region. Wallangarra itself is a quaint rural town with more wallabies than there are people. Despite being recently renovated, the house maintains its traditional Queenslander charm with a wrap-around front porch, high ceilings and stained glass windows. Each bedroom is fully equipped with comfortable mattresses and linens, as well as places to hang and store your clothes during your stay. Our home comfortably fits six guests, with two king-single beds in the third bedroom that are designed to sleep both adults and children. The kitchen is simply enormous, equipped with everything you might need. Whether you want to make yourself a coffee in the mornings or a full five course meal in the evenings, you will want for nothing. The bathroom has been fully renovated to suit both summer and winter with a heated towel rail so your towels are never damp. The first thing you might notice after you settle in is the sheer number of books! We have specifically created this Airbnb to satiate our love of reading and writing with hopes it will do the same for our guests. The second thing you might notice is the outdoor bath! It is fully hooked up to hot water and is the perfect relaxation experience. Get the outdoor fire going and settle into a steaming bubble bath with your favourite book and a glass of red. The living room is the pride and joy of the house. Not only does it have two winged-back armchairs and a fully stocked bookshelf, there is also a cosy fireplace that can easily heat the entire house in winter. If it doesn’t, we have provided oil and electric heaters and dozens of extra blankets just in case. During the few weeks of the year that it does get up to 30 degrees, there is also air conditioning to cool down the house. In the second bedroom, you will find a desk and swivel chair with a desk lamp and power point so you can write undisturbed and free from distractions. The WiFi is also fast and reliable if you needed to work during your stay. Unplug and Rewind We encourage you to allow yourself time to simply relax and switch off. Lounge around in the sun and watch the bees collect pollen. Settle yourself into one of our armchairs in front of the fire. Meander around Wallangarra and get a glimpse of what it’s like to live in a tiny rural town. Drink tea on the balcony and watch for local birds. Finish that book you’ve been trying to read for months. Our Airbnb is the perfect place to go if you’re feeling overwhelmed by technology and its daily impact on your life. We have a phone box that you can leave your phones in as often as you want during your stay so you can reconnect with the present. The Area The Granite Belt is home to over 50 vineyards, wineries and breweries. Ballandean, which has a large collection of these, is only 15 minutes drive away. The beautiful historic town of Tenterfield is also only 15 minutes in the other direction with several cafes, restaurants and a supermarket. Wallangarra itself is everything you would expect a rural town to be: tranquil and charming. At night, all you can hear is the wind rustling through the gum trees and the occasional croak of a frog. It is also the closest town to Girraween National Park, which you can see from the front porch of the house. With Stanthorpe only a 30 minute drive away and countless attractions and hikes to do all within easy travel distance, you could easily fill an entire week with activities. You will find a box full of travel brochures and maps on the kitchen counter when you arrive. Pets We are a pet friendly Airbnb! We know how difficult it is to leave your fluffy loved ones at home while you go on holiday, so we didn’t even think twice about ensuring our home is open to animals. The property is fully fenced and has been tried and tested by our three small, medium and large dogs. Unless your dog is a digger or a high-jumper, they will not be able to roam about the town without you. The outdoor bath. We have just opened our unique tranquil outdoor bath. Resting on a beautiful wooden deck, surrounded by the starlit night you can unwind and relax. Comfortable neck pillows, bubble bath, wine and candles await.
