"Casa Sachsenland" is a welcoming home which unifies beautiful family heirlooms and other antique and upcycled furnishings from the diverse cultural heritages of Transylvania. Featuring high-end modern furnishings, this newly renovated home is a luxurious space of beauty. Located a 10-minute drive from the city centre, Casa Sachsenland can serve as both a tranquil abode of relaxation and a quiet place to focus on work. Upon entering this property through the bespoke cast iron gate, you will find your rental immediately to your left. This charming completely renovated village cottage with its blue shutters and window boxes is adorned with a lovely front garden, enclosed with seasonal flowering bushes, trees and plants, an antique Hungarian bench, a patio with table and chairs and a sweet micro-clover lawn. Upon entering the house, you will find yourself in the entrance hall with its vintage style coat rack and bench where you can hang your coat, take off your shoes and put on a pair of complimentary cozy slippers. Off to the left, is the door to the large living room/second bedroom where you will find the antique extra-large desk - a family heirloom which makes for a spacious workplace. The custom cream linen sofa set, includes the sofa bed with its comfortable memory foam mattress and is framed by the first of three handmade traditional Romanian wool carpets found in the home. The original village home built back in the 1950s consisted of just this one room. Where the fireplace is, was previously the door to the garden. We have exposed the original brick to add character to the room and applied the "German schmear" technique to make this feature wall. In the corner of the living room, you will see the antique travel chest from the late 1700s found in the attic of the home when the renovations commenced and the roofing was changed. Straight ahead through the entrance wall, is the dining room with the beautiful antique and newly refurbished Hungarian bench and German bufet. The centerpiece of the room however is the upcycled table made from one of the doors of the original house, using cast iron legs and beautiful Spanish and Italian design tiles. All is framed with the second of the handmade traditional Romanian wool carpets. Through the dining room, one finds the kitchen and off to its left one of the two full bathrooms. The custom kitchen features Electrolux appliances (including a gas stove and self-clean oven), a cobalt blue Spanish and Turkish design tiled backsplash, which contrast beautifully with the cream coloured MDF cabinets, and granite countertops, incorporated sink and brass taps and accessories. The ceramic door knobs are handpainted by a Canadian artist. You will find spices and basic cooking supplies along with all the necessary cookware. The spacious bedroom features a king-sized comfortable firm mattress with bonnell springs, luxurious quality bedding and pillows a gorgeous, handpainted traditional Transilvanian Saxon armoire from 1934 (with a safe inside), a full lenghth mirror and the third hand-made traditional Romanian wool carpet. The second bathroom is a spacious ensuite bathroom, directly off of the bedroom, where the Electrolux washing machine is found. Both bathrooms feature upcycled copper sinks made from cookware, elegant Italian mosaic tiles, offset by soothing gray wall and blue mozaic floor tiles and brass accessories and taps. The renovations were completed in December 2022 and includes a whole new ceramic tiled roof, insulation, double-glazed windows with mosquito screening, insulated walls, new doors, bathrooms and kitchen. The original hardwood floors were sanded and laquered to offer a beautifully warm and natural tone to the home.
