Very comfortable beach house which matched the description on Airbnb. Ray White were responsive and accomodating. Why didn’t I give it full marks? Insufficient toilet paper, not enough coffee capsules and the rubbish bin stank to high heaven on arrival and throughout our stay (although we moved the bins to the back). Generally, for ~$1200 per night, I don’t want to have to deal with these types of things - they’re all manageable. Bins only get collected on a Monday? Fine then figure out what to do with the previous guests rubbish. Don’t leave it in a bin in the hot sun and expect me to sympathise with the municipal schedule. Toilet paper? Put spare rolls under every basin in every bathroom. That’s all very easily manageable for that money.

The location is perfect, the house has lots of space and a great layout. For the price, I was surprised there were no salt & pepper, oil, or other pantry essentials. There was nothing. Pillows and bedding was a bit average and the oven was grimy and hard to use. However, it’s such a lovely part of the world and the location being walkable to the beach is really nice.

This was our first visit to Straddie and it was a cracker! Just loved the island and definitely planning to return. The holiday was family based we loved the sectionalised bedrooms with one family downstairs near the pool, the second larger family taking the two bedrooms near the living quarters and my husband & I top floor with a birds eye view from our balcony and the ensuite has a great outdoors feel the louver windows open up to a nature reserve at the back of the house, so it was ffantastic to watch the kangaroos & birds while sitting on the loo. All the bedrooms had access to private breakout balconies allowing everyone to be able to chillout at will. Very much needed on holiday. There was enough room for the boat and cars. We could have done with better lounge seating (there simply wasn't enough for eight adults to sit comfortably and watch telly- first world problem) It didn't overly bother anyone but it was noticed.

We absolutely loved the house; it has a special kind of charm about it with all of its authentic and quirky fittings. Fantastic design and loved the decor choices as well as the Artwork and frames. Amazing views, wildlife (kangaroos) at the back door, birds singing every morning. Each area had its purpose from the granny flat below as a couples retreat to the middle section with the combined, dining, kitchen, living and large balcony, great for family gatherings. I especially loved the parents retreat upper level, in our case grandparents' retreat. Lovely pool and positioned well, spent plenty of time cooling off in it. We really enjoyed Stradbroke and exploring it knowing we could return each time to a stunning house that is close to the beach/s and amenities but is also on a quiet, secure street with other lovely houses.
