爱丁堡 · 整套公寓 · 2室2床1.0卫 · 可住4人 · Holyrood Park: Lush & Arty 2 Double Bed Flat
Centrally located, this main door, luxurious, artsy ground floor apartment is in a pretty and quiet, traditional tenement crescent, with free street parking for your car many buses into the city. It is 25 mins walk from Waverley train 3 mins to Holyrood Park, Arthur's Seat, the Palace of Holyrood, and Royal Mile, are 15 minute. In the other direction is the trendy city beach of Portobello with promenade, cafes, artisan bakers, 25 min walk away. There are some great pubs & eateries close by too The apartment is designed to have a quirky, eclectic feel of opulence with more than a nod to the Danish concept of 'Hygge'; possibly through the sheepskin covered chairs and harris tweed throws and the range of floor and wall lights and dimmer switches to suit your mood. Hopefully the 2 luxury art deco feather filled sofas and the gold painted walls help give your senses a feeling of tranquility and luxury. While the Persian kilms and living flame gas fire offer additional cosy vibes; the wall art and window blinds offer a gallery of female portraiture along the feminine or feminist lines depending on your point of view. The bedding is all goose feathers and the linen 100% cotton, no polyester here ! There is a 32 inch smart TV with Netflix, I player powerful WIFI etc. There is a dedicated work space table and chair. The open plan lounge dining kitchen is well equipped with an under counter separate freezer ( check out the ice, ready for your drinks ), a fridge, dishwasher, cooker, hob and the washing machine. is in the walk in wardrobe of the main bedroom. The 2 double bedrooms both have french doors out to the south facing, peaceful patio and communal garden for morning coffee or afternoon aperitifs. One bedroom has a king size bed and a walk in closest while the other has a queen size bed, walk in closet and a desk/ dressing table. The bathroom has a bath with a powerful overhead shower, sink and WC, and is located in the middle of the flat assessed off the long and imposing hallway. The heating for the apartment can be easily adjusted to suit you by using the thermostat on the wall in the hallway; we have a new boiler installed guaranteeing constant hot water The flat is aimed at adults and not really equipped for small children ( artefacts, sculptures, pottery, vintage books decorate the apartment). Having said that, (these items can be placed higher out of reach)there is a bedside travel cot available for babies however pets are not allowed ,sorry.
Highly recommend Michelle's place to anyone. The apartment is huge! The decor is gorgeous, warm, cosy and very inviting. We had everything we needed, and more. I initially chose it based on the look and the fact you're next to the park (where we spent the majority of one day). Michelle has been super helpful and has great recommendations. We didn't have any issues during our short stay. Very much enjoyed the massive sofas (after walking 12.5 miles around Edinburgh on day two)!
Meadowbank is a quiet yet centrally located neighbourhood. Its main features are the immediate access to the magical and majestic Holyrood park which has the famous mini mountain ( dormant volcano) of Arthurs Seat and Salisbury Cragg, not to mention 2 lakes with swans! If you want wilderness in the city you have come to the right place, pack your running shoes or walking boots. On the other hand the park hosts the Medieval Holyrood palace, the Scottish home of the King and the former home of Mary Queen of Scots. In fact one of the nearest cafes is the one in the palace which is gracious and spacious with views over the park and free too! Next to the palace is the controversial modern building of the Scottish Parliament which you can visit and sit in on parliamentary debates. Of course when you are there you are at the start of the Royal Mile which extends from the Palace of Holyrood right up to Edinburgh Castle. Closer to the flat on London Road with the junction of Easter Road are more cafes than you can shake a stick at. The best way to get there is to walk parrallel to London Road along side the park on Royal Park Terrace and come up the 'back' on Abbey Lane for the best of city and nature vibes combined. Basically don't walk on the main road ! It's boring unless you are on the bus. There is so much more I can say about this great part of the city
Meadowbank is tucked away in an enclave and yet is such an accessible place to everywhere. I would advice walking ! Its such a small city and pretty. I would aim for the park and walk through it to get anywhere central. Nevertheless as an alternative there are plenty of buses running constantly on London Road about 100 metres away. Meadowbank is one of the only places left for free roadside parking and actually, the city is easy to cross and park in, I find. Of course there are black cabs to hail too but an Uber is probably the most convenient and more certain.
