I thoroughly enjoyed some downtime after being on a ayahuasca retreat at another venue further up the river. This was the perfect setting as I was on my own & could easily walk to the village. There is an animal sanctuary within walking distance & it is possible to hike to other villages. There is also a neighbouring potter who kindly showed me her product. Jorge was delightful companion to spend time with & we had lovely conversations, however he never intruded on me. I ate every evening from a local food stall in the village square & enjoyed a soft serve ice-cream for dessert at a small shop up the road from the lodge. The lodge does however have a small fridge & a gas plate for cooking. Groceries are readily available a various stall around the village. Almost no English is spoken but used a Translator app successfully. This is a lovely location for someone who enjoys being able to spend time in a village setting, yet is an easy & enjoyable boat ride from Iquitos.

Jorge was the most wonderful host. He helped our group organise days out and gave great advice about visiting the local area. The home was beautiful, spacious, clean and incredible views. Thank you so much Jorge. He truly deserves all the best!

If you want to be close to Iquitos but don’t want to be surrounded by traffic noise day and night, then don’t hesitate and go to Padrecocha. This lively and authentic village is just a 20-minute boat ride up the river from Iquitos. Boats run all the time and cost just a few cents. And for that you get an amazing scenic trip which alone is worth going there. Jorge is a super kind and helpful host and will do anything to make his guests happy. He speaks English fluently which was very helpful. The house itself is gorgeous. It has beautiful river views, it’s clean, spacious, and has everything you need. The beds are comfortable and towels and linen are provided. The locals are very friendly and I felt welcome and safe there. I can highly recommend this place and would happily stay here again.

Jorge is een topper! Hij heeft er alles aan gedaan om ons verblijf perfect te laten verlopen. Van jungle excursies tot vissen in de Amazone rivier. We komen zeker nog een keer terug.
