Ofer's house is immaculately clean, and his design background really comes through in the minimalist yet inviting decor of the house. The beds are comfortably firm, and the linens are nicer than what I have in my own home. The location is well outside Twentynine Palms, and although you need to plan ahead for groceries and meals, it's peaceful and perfect for stargazing because the night skies are truly dark. My 9yo and I loved sitting by the outdoor fireplace (s'mores!) and identifying constellations. This house is also well located if you're going to use the less crowded North Entrance Station for Joshua Tree NP. The Wi-Fi is not lightning-fast, but it's impressively stable considering the remote surroundings, and we still had a good cellular signal on Verizon. All in all, I felt fortunate to enjoy a couple days in Ofer's desert vacation home during spring-break season in Southern California when good-value lodging is so hard to come by.
