Jack is extremely approachable and responsive. The house really is a mansion house and in lovely extensive grounds in a very beautiful, peaceful location. I think it's fair to say the decor is a little tired but we could immediately relax and actually if you have dogs or small children it's ideal. If you want to use the TV it's worth bringing your own fire stick as we couldn't log into our own accounts. Kitchen is well equipped and lots of seating. The shower in the main bathroom was out of use (looked like some leakage staining on kitchen ceiling) but we managed fine with the 3 ensuite showers. The house was cosy and welcoming. It was ideal for a family get together and we had a great time!

Jack had hoped for a 5* review and he worked hard to try to get it. He communicated well before check in and was there when we arrived. Unfortunately the house in Musselburgh is just not up to par, there were lots of issues which couldn’t realistically be resolved during our stay. Jack did offer compensation which we did not accept. Looking at previous reviews on this house offered by Jane, the same issues were previously reported but not fixed. My daughter left a sweatshirt, and we are still hoping it will be returned. My reviews are and always will be honest and I rely on other guests reviews to be the same, so I cannot give a 5* review when the house had so many negative issues. ie. Plumbing, TV’s not working, Cleanliness, lack of supplies, lack of seating in sitting rooms for total guests, no outdoor furniture in the lovely garden, van parked in driveway that took up our parking. Hoping for return of the sweatshirt without the 5* review he continually requested.

This was an awesome stay with loads of open spaces, greenery, little bit of history. Great place to unwind with Family and for the kids to enjoy. The place itself was great, safe, big both in terms of staying area but also massive gardens around it. The Kitchen was well equipped along with the House itself. Jack, the host was superb in communication, giving clear information and instructions about the house and about nearby places and how to get around. The house is in Musselburgh, a little far from Princess Street but there is a regular bus service Route No. 30 along with 76, 44 to get to main Edinburgh (every 10 mins) that is available very close to the house along with Tesco for all your daily needs. We saw a Deer and a few very beautiful birds as well. Overall it was a great stay for our family. We had 2 kids (age 2 and 8) along with 2 senior citizens as well and everyone was super happy. The only improvement I would say is about getting used to the washroom flushes!

It was a wonderful space to house all the family together and there was enough room for everyone ! The house is impressive with all the rooms and beautiful grounds to walk around in. I was surprised to see the house looked dated, and there were a few safety concerns like the spike in bannister that was broken - not ideal with small children around! There was wires hanging loose and I felt some of the rooms looked very tired. The kitchen appliances were not clean especially the oven and trays. It would be helpful to have some basics like foil available for ease. The postcode on the listing is incorrect and caused problems for us getting there on Friday evening - that was very tiring especially when travelling with a two year old! Overall the value is fine for how many people we accommodated and the spade but I do think maintenance and safety of house needs to be explored. Thanks.

We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful property! Jack our host was incredibly responsive and helpful, the house was perfect for our large group and we loved the surrounding area! Would 10/10 recommend!
