法尔茅斯(Falmouth) · 整套出租单元 · 1室1床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Sweet 2-story 1910 Bungalow near Portland, Beaches
This lovely, 2-story Sears-Roebuck 1910 bungalow with its own entrance has sea breezes in summer and fireside coziness in winter. Borrow bikes to explore nearby Town Landing beach, Audubon, and forest trails. Walk three blocks to a local bakery for coffee. The upstairs bedroom with a king bed looks out on white pines. Furnishings have been updated, but the original woodwork is untouched. Just 4 miles up the coast from Portland, it's a wonderful base for exploring Maine's towns and beaches. This is an original Bungalow guest house that is situated side by side with the owner's home, but has its own separate entrance and deck. It has carefully been updated to be comfortable, while still preserving the character of the historical home. The bedroom has a cozy reading nook with a rocking chair by an electric woodstove. You will sleep comfortably in the king cast-iron bed, new hybrid mattress, and Pottery Barn Belgian flax duvet-cover. The upstairs bathroom has an antique claw-foot tub with modern faucet/hand-held showerhead. The kitchen, with its cute antique enamel dining table, has everything you need. (The owner’s mom ate at the enamel table as a child in the 1940’s!) It has supplies from oils and spices and baking essentials to quality coffee and Stash tea selections. There is also a classic Nespresso machine with espresso pods., and a small milk frother. Note that the oven and the fridge are 3/4 size. The living room has a couch and two chairs, an electric fireplace with mantle, a television with roku/smart tv, and some fun features like a Victrola record player and a working antique radio. The guest house also has exercise and yoga supplies, an exercise bike, and a stairmaster. For a fun outing, the mudroom holds a cute wicker picnic basket with complete china settings for two, a picnic blanket, and a frisbee. There are two 7-speed cruiser bikes that are dedicated to guests staying here (see bike photo). The deck under the 100-year-old lilac tree is private, with deck furniture, Weber charcoal grill, and a propane firepit table to relax around. The owners live next door, and are happy to help if you find you need something.
I really enjoyed staying at Susan and Kyle’s guest house. The description matched the home perfectly and the hosts were very communicative and helpful. The location was just what I was looking for in a quiet weekend away. Susan and Kyle offer up recommendations for places to eat and local activities. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Portland.
Cute little spot in well situated close to Portland! Susan went above and beyond as a host. Recommend to anyone looking for a little Maine getaway.
A very nice and comfortable stay. We especially liked listening to jazz on the antique record player.
We are in a wonderful neighborhood for walking and bike-riding. Stroll in the immediate neighborhood to see beautiful Casco bay views dotted with sailboats and islands. You can bring your own bike or borrow one. A mile up beautiful route 88 is Falmouth town beach, and also a forested nature preserve with hiking trails. Mackworth Island and Audubon are 1.5-2 miles down the coast. You can also walk a couple blocks to a cute coffee-shop/bakery, and easily reach more shops and a movie theater on route 1. We are 4 miles from downtown Portland. The home is located on the corner of quiet coastal neighborhood streets and also moderately busy (but popular biking and walking route) 88/Foreside Rd. The guest home shares a driveway with the owner's main house, but has its own separate deck and entrance.
Nearby Portland has numerous farm-to-table restaurants, micro-breweries, little shops, and other sights to see. The art museum and children's museum there are great, and there is a vibrant live music and arts scene. There is also lovely cross country skiing or snow-shoeing in easy reach, and Falmouth has a cute outdoor ice-skating rink with warming hut, and a weekly farmer's market Spring through Fall. We are happy to provide suggestions or tips on local spots to check out during your visit.
There is free parking here, so it's probably easiest to have a car to explore the area. There is, however, a bus stop across the road for a bus that runs into Portland. It's also typically easy to pick up Uber rides for Portland area. Nearby Portland is accessible by airport (PWM), train station (Downeaster), and bus (Concord Trailways from Boston is especially easy.)
