At the Iron pig Ranch, you can enjoy an African Safari camping experience, with all the modern comforts. Feel what it would be like to stay in a Safari Tent in the African bush, without the lions and elephants of course. Spend your nights in a luxury Safari tent on a remote wildlife management ranch in the Texas Hill Country. Ideal for the nature lovers, bird watchers, photographers, stargazers or those relaxing with a good book or just visiting the area. The Iron Pig Ranch has over 100 acres for you to explore and enjoy and 3 miles of trails to walk or bike. Nestled in a small valley with seasonal creeks and ponds, it is home to a variety of birds, reptiles mammals, flora and more. Our ranch is located just south of Goldthwaite, TX and is an active wildlife management ranch. The focus is preservation and protection of the land and wildlife and sharing with folks who want to get back to nature. Everything on the ranch is powered by alternative energy and we work with the Texas Parks and Wildlife biologists to maintain and preserve the ecosystem. We love sharing our space with like minded folks. The tent is a 14'x16' custom canvas safari tent on an elevated platform, under a vinyl fly sheet, to offer some protection from the harsh Texas sun. The tent has all the modern comforts with laminate flooring, heat and AC, hot and cold running water, coffee station, fridge, queen bed and futon, and 120v AC power. There is a covered outdoor kitchen with microwave and running hot water. We have a Weber Grill for barbequing too. The private bathroom has toilet and wash basin and is close to the tent. For a true nature experience, try out the outdoor shower with hot water. Private, yet one with nature. All structures have lights and electricity, and they are close to each other it in a private setting. The new BYOB Bush Pub is a communal outdoor pub to enjoy a drink, read or play games with with family, friends or other guests. There is also a fridge for your food or drinks. The tent and bush pub has WIFI internet around 10/50 Mbps - enough for work and entertainment. In addition to the glamping, we have blinds setup for bird and game viewing. We also numerous trails for bird watching or hiking the property. There are ponds with fish (catch and release only) but water levels can drop depending on rain conditions. There is also fossil hunting for explorers. On clear nights the stars are truly spectacular because of the low light pollution. We do not live on the property and although our cabin is nearby, you and the other camp will most likely be the only ones out there. This is a self-guided experience with self check-in, but if we are there, will gladly show you around. We are always available for questions or assistance of course. You are only 8 miles from Goldthwaite should you need supplies or want to eat out. Shopping, vineyards and Colorado Bend State Park offer other activities in the area.
