森林公园(Forest Park) · 整套出租单元 · 1室1床1.0卫 · 可住3人 · Sunny 1 bedroom apartment 1 block from restaurants
This sunny second floor apartment perched in an 1890’s farmhouse offers traditional charm with many contemporary touches. It showcases a variety of original art. Located on a quiet street but just steps away from restaurants, bars and shops, off-street parking is included. Two nearby trains provide easy access to downtown Chicago and O’Hare Airport. An enclosed porch directly off the kitchen overlooks a beautiful prairie garden. You can relax on the backyard patio with gas grill and fire pit.
We stayed here for two nights. Peaceful area with easy access to highway and other amenities.
What a lovely retreat, just outside of Chicago! I picked Jim and Carla's place because it was just a short walk from a friend's home in Forest Park, but I will definitely be sharing with my local friends to book for their visitors. It's clean and cozy, decorated with lovely art, yet it's pared down to the essentials you need as a traveler. Sometimes you go to an AirBnb and it feels like you're creeping into someone's lived in home. Everything is well labeled and impossible to miss. Bonus: My friends told me the home was on the local garden tour -- I didn't get to spend time in it, but it looks gorgeous! I accidentally left my electric toothbrush and the hosts very kindly offered to return. Will be back!
Staying at Carla and Jim's apartment was a wonderful experience. Check-in was easy peasy, decor was lovely, every space was spotlessly clean, and there were lots of little touches that go a long way toward making a weary traveler feel at home. The hosts are helpful, kind, and friendly. Downtown River Forest was a hop, skip and a jump away; I walked everywhere. Public transportation made getting to and from downtown Chicago a breeze. Thanks for a great stay!
This was our second stay at this airbnb. We stayed a second time because we knew we would be cosy, comfortable and have everything we needed for a great stay. Being close to two trainlines is convenient and the area is walkable (it is a flat easy walk to nearby shops, supermarkets and bus/train stops). We didn't have a car so it was important for us to be able to get around easily and safely. The apartment is warm, quiet and well-equipped with pretty much everything you could need. Jim, Carla and Gretchen went out of their way to make our stay great and accommodate our needs. Thank you so much!

Transportation to Chicago and surrounding areas
Chicago Rapid Transit Trains
Blue Line
Terminal can be reached by walking three blocks west on Adams Street to DesPlaines Ave.
Turn south and walk about one and a half blocks, just past Van Buren Street.
Station is on the right before the 290 Expressway.
NOTE: This train will take you to downtown Chicago, and it continues all the way to O’Hare International Airport.
Green Line
Terminal is farther away, but close to downtown Oak Park.
Walk one block north on Thomas to Madison Street.
Walk about 3 blocks east to Elgin or another block to Harlem Ave. (Elgin is quieter and more residential)
Turn north for about 6 blocks until you see the elevated tracks (Elgin takes a slight jog to the right so follow the tracks, and you will end up on Harlem)
The terminal is on the west side of Harlem under the tracks.
Metra Trains
Rail transport to Downtown Chicago or to western suburbs is available at the Metra Station adjacent to the Green Line Terminal.
By Car
To access the 290 expressway, use the same directions as reaching the Blue Line. The west entrance is on the right and takes you to Chicago suburbs and other expressways.
