Now, for the first time in over a century, "The Suites" are available to be enjoyed as a vacation retreat. From the moment you drive up the cobble stone street in front of one of Merida’s historic churches - you know you are staying somewhere truly special! After managing one of Merida's most booked AirBnB villa for the past several years, Casa Escalera al Cielo - we decided to acquire the neighboring property to allow more guest the opportunity to stay in such an amazing location across from one of Merida's most beautiful church and park squares. These properties are the ONLY residential short term rentals that are located directly across from ANY of Merida's centro churches and squares! La Ermita Suites have been updated to U.S. standards and plumbing to allow the conviences of home while traveling abroad. This apartment is a single level home with 2 queen beds that will allow up to 4 guest to rest and relax comfortably. Enjoy the rear private courtyard in the morning as sip your first cup of coffee under the palms. This home is equipped with air conditioning to make sure you enjoy your time in the Yucatan and beat the heat! For those of us who need stay connected to reality, WiFi is provided so you can stay up to date or turn on the 55 inch smart TV and catch the latest show on your Netflix account. Det første inntrykket vi fikk når vi kom, var bra, fint, rent og pent. Lett tilkomst rett fra gangvei. Etter en tid opplevde vi dette stedet som hadde god plass, egen bakgård ble travelt å bo, fordi: det var hele tiden støy og mye trafikk fra gata+ hunder på begge sider som bjeffer og uler hele tiden. Det var slitsomt å være inne på grunn av mye akustikk i rommene. Det var også besøk av maur som kom opp veggen bak senga. En kveld vi kom hjem sprang det ei mus og gjemte seg bak ovnen. Så vi var egentlig glad for å avslutte oppholdet. Dette er ikke noen plass for ro og avslapping.
Spacious beautiful apartment! We were worried about church bells being too loud but no it was the dogs nearby and the water pump that would wake us up, nothing for light sleepers! There’s a white noise machine that maybe can help you. The patio is really cute! We had one day no water it was a bit annoying, but they fixed it. After all a very nice place!
Beautiful space. High ceilings are so great. Comfortable beds. Neat kitchen. Lots of different lighting. We had a special time there and I couldn’t make any complaints. But I’ll note that if there’s a pop up carnival by the church one night, it’ll blow your hair back and shake your bones in that echo chamber.

Beautiful place, all the amenities. Close enough for all the centro activities but take public transportation or uber after dark.

Merida is a truly magical city and the historical downtown is amazing! La Ermita Suites is right in the middle of it all so you can walk wherever you'd like to go! La Ermita is a quaint area of El Centro with beautiful cobblestone streets and underground utilities. Directly across the street from the home is Parque de La Ermita as well as the historic church from the 1600's - La Ermita de Santa Isabel. Just a short walk 7 blocks north you'll find yourself in the heart of the city at the Plaza Grande which is surrounded by numerous cultural centers, museums, & the governors palace.
You're in the historic downtown - walk wherever you need to go! You can also take a Taxi but I'd suggest Uber for convenience and cost savings if you'd like to take a ride anywhere in the city.
If you do have a car there is no assigned or off-street parking but street parking is more than ample if front of the home and around the church and park across the street. IMPORTANT - Do not park in front of the house early Sunday mornings. The city does a public bicycle ride on Sundays and the street in front of the home temporarily becomes a 2-way street for a few hours to accommodate the bicyclist. The city will tow your car that morning if it's parked along Calle 66 when they set up for the city bicycle ride.
