If you prefer to have more flexibility and independence, renting a car is a great option. Several car rental agencies operate in San Jose, and driving in Curridabat is relatively straightforward, with well-maintained roads and signage. Sixt Rental Car is located within a couple blocks of the Apartment if you choose to rent a car for a few days, and is much less of a hassle than getting a car over by the airport.
One of the most popular modes of transportation in Curridabat is the local bus system. The neighborhood is well-served by an extensive network of buses that connect to various parts of San Jose and neighboring towns. Bus stops are easily accessible throughout Curridabat, making it convenient to hop on and off as you explore the area. There are bus stops 50 meters south of the building to go west towards downtown San Jose or you can cross the street and catch a bus going East towards Cartago.
Taxis are also readily available and offer a convenient way to get around. You can easily hail a taxi on the streets or find them at designated taxi stands, with the closest being in front of Plaza del Sol, 1 block West of the apartment. It's recommended to use licensed taxis with meters to ensure a fair fare. Personally, I recommend using Uber and InDriver.
