welcome to Dar al Fananna 'The artists house' our traditional Moroccan home on the edge of the Sahara in M'hamid at Ghizlane. enjoy home cooked moroccan food and hospitality, take a camel trip out to the desert with Abdol, who is an expert desert guide (although we are new to Airbnb you can find reviews of our desert tours on trip advisor under camp Sahara desert tours) or try out your art skills with Katherine when she’s at home :) Simple, traditional Moroccan desert home, expect an authentic experience of sitting on cushions on the floor, and eating home cooked Moroccan food accompanied by endless glasses of Moroccan tea! The only modern thing we have is our spotless and newly built toilet and shower block, which is a treat after a hot and dusty journey

Nous n'avons pas rencontré Katherine mais elle a été très réactive et de bon conseil par message. Nous avons été très bien accueillis par Abdols et son ami Mohamed, avec qui nous avons passé un très bon moment dans le désert. La maison est magnifique et bien décorée ! Nous avons aussi rencontré les dromadaires qu'Abdols nous a présenté. Nous recommandons !
Die Unterkunft war ein Traum direkt an der Wüste. Beide waren super freundlich, aufgeschlossen, flexibel und sehr fürsorglich. Wir haben uns sehr zuhause und willkommen gefühlt! Wir haben uns direkt herzlich willkommen gefühlt, in einer Unterkunft, die ein absolut schöner Mix zwischen der marokkanischen Kultur und Kreativität der Künstlerin Kathrine ist.
Katherine and Abdul are very welcoming and friendly hosts. They are very knowledgeable on the local area and the nomadic history, as well as the plants and animals. The property is a beautiful relaxing respite from the desert heat. Lots of lovely food was prepared and cooked by Ali and Abdul. Not to mention the virtually continuous tea, coffee and biscuits. Evenings were spent around the table indoors or in the garden, listening to Djinn stories by candlelight or dancing and clapping to Ali and Abdul's drumming. Fabulous day trips with Katherine and Abdul included an overnight stay in the desert where there was the choice of sleeping in provided tents or gazing at the stars. With lovely cosy Nomad blankets to keep us cosy, food prepared over and open fire and sand bread prepared and baked as we watched. We rode the lovely Sami and Campbell into the desert to watch the sunset. Note: Sami the younger Camel loves digestive biscuits. An amazing stay I strongly recommend.

We are in a quiet part of the last town before the vast expanse of the Sahara desert, there are some local shops and eateries but they are limited, (there is one local venue where you can buy alcoholic drinks with your meal)
We provide a good breakfast but if you want lunch and dinner here we are very happy to cook for you for an extra fee.
There is only one road in and out of town. Most of the streets are mostly sand and just passable by car. There is a once a day coach service to and from Marrakech which takes approximately 9 hours, you can also find some grand taxis or hire a car and driver (we can help you with all this)
We also run trips into the desert with our two resident camels Sami and Campbell, we can provide tents for wild camping and blankets but you may want your own sleeping bag too. Talk to us about how many days you might like and we can quote for a trip once you arrive
