Large stylish log cabin for up to 8 on idyllic historic estate "Alvasjön" in the middle of the forest next to Sweden's largest private lake. Surrounded by one of Sweden's most beautiful nature reserves and best sport fishing areas. Fantastic swimming, walking, cycling, canoeing and blueberry picking and mushrooming in a serene and beautiful environment. Use (at own risk) of boats, canoes and mountain bikes. Get the kids away from their phones and tablets and out on adventures!

Vi har holdt jul i Ed og Saras dejlige hus, midt i den dejlige svenske natur. Huset er charmerende, med gode store værelser, fint køkken og flere toiletter. Vi har nydt freden og roen, de smukke omgivelser og muligheden for at slappe af og komme helt ned i gear. Det har været en dejlig oplevelse og vi giver hermed Ed og Saras hus de bedste anbefalinger.
Den mest charmerende bolig i smukke omgivelser, roligt og uforstyrret område med masser af udendørs aktiviteter. Vi kommer helt klart igen!
Wie hatten einen wunderbare, erholsame Woche. Die zur Verfügung stehenden Bikes, die Boote und die Sauna waren super! Unser Sohn liebte das Blaubeerensammeln!

If you like silence this is the place for you, it is incredibly quiet and serene - a really special place in the middle of the forest next to a stunning lake pretty much surrounded by a nature reserve with deer and elk regularly found on the lawn. The house is on a historic estate built by Swedish aristocracy. The estate is a small village in the forest (all owned by us) with each house feeling very private and having its own space and surrounded by the most beautiful pine forest nature reserve.
The leading coarse fishing area in Sweden is about 5km away - but go to their shop and they'll say they want to fish at Alvasjö! There is also good fishing for pike and perch in the lake in the photos with some rods available to borrow.
There is no TV and pretty much no internet at Alvasjö and we like to keep it that way if we can! There is a mobile signal and a decent data connection on certain networks.
The local shop in Brandstorp is very good. The nearest cash point and proper supermarket is about 20 minutes drive away (Tidaholm, Habo or Hjo). Most places do take cards and many won't take cash.
You really need to have a car as it is in the middle of nowhere. We often use our bikes to go down to the local shop and cycle through the forest on tracks. It really is a fantastic place to cycle with the nearest road being 2km away and almost no cars on the forest tracks at all, we love cycling with our kids through the forest stopping every now and again to pick blueberries or chanterelle mushrooms - it is really special. There are also lovely walks through the forest and round the lake.

Mid 40s stay at home dad looking after Ella (14) and Simon (12). Married to Sara. Live in Saltsjöbaden, Sweden and spend as much time as possible in Comporta and at Alvasjön our idyllic forest estate near Lake Vätternin Sweden. Love to cycle on the tracks in the forest, pick blueberries and go for a canoe across the lake. Favourite thing in the world to go for a swim in the lake and feel the stresses of life disappear. We also love cycling to the beach for body boarding in Comporta and lying by the pool. A bit of grilled fish Portuguese style with a bottle of local wine always goes down well too! Keen golfer at Rye; Saltsöbaden and the R&A, St Andrews. Keen cricketer for the Grannies CC and others but not much time for that any more.
