Villa is located near many beautiful and historic cities, such as: Rovinj (12.4 miles/19.9km), Poreč (19.9 miles/32km), Opatija (30.4 miles/49km) and Pula and its airport (8.7 miles/14km). For lovers of gastronomy and wine, Istria region is a perfect place to be. Known for its truffles, olive oil and wines, it will satisfy even the most demanding of palates. Area boasts many high-quality restaurants and wineries where you can try the best of what Istria has to offer. If you want to take some of it back home as souvenirs, local shops have an extensive offer of many traditional products that also include prosciutto, famous local pasta, cheese, organic honey, and different types of rakija’s (famous local alcohol spirit). Besides its gastronomy and oenology, Istria also boasts some of the most beautiful historic towns in Croatia, including Pula that is the site of one the 6 largest preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world, called Arena. Arena is a great site to visit, but also to have fun, since it is also used as a concert hall, with many of the world’s most famous performers having had concerts there. Also, only five minutes drive from villa you will find The Morosini-Grimani Castle. Its origin is attributed to the merging of the tradition of the countryside, agricultural economy and defense function. Did you know that Istria is a home of the smallest town in the world? Hum is a small town in the middle of Istria peninsula. Besides being famous for its size, it is also very famous for very traditional brandy called Biska (which we highly recommend) and its Glagolitic history. Glagoljica is an old Croatian alphabet that was used prior to Latin letters. You can take a trip down Glagolitic Lane with Aleja glagoljaša that consists of 11 stone marks along the local road that follow the path from village Roč all the way to Hum (about 7 km long). It is a monument to our ancient writing. Also in the center of Istria is a small village Motovun. Besides it’s incredible beauty and charm, this little village on top of the hill is very famous for its summer movie festival. It is dedicated in representing independent movies across the world. The festival doesn’t have the red carpet and glamour. It boasts a more organic approach, with movies being projected under the sky. Night life is rich in all of Istria. From clubs, restaurants, jazz festivals (most famous in Grožnjan), salsa festivals (Rovinj) and bars, there is a lot of fun to be had and memorable memories to be created. Istria is also a home of one of the 8 national parks of Croatia called Brijuni. Brijuni or Brioni consist of two bigger islands and 12 smaller ones that form this national park. It is located across city Fažana, from where you can take a ferry to visit this beautiful park. It is probably the most famous as a vacation resort of a former Yugoslavian president Tito, where he welcomed many world leaders, royalty, and celebrities. If you like more of an active rest, Casa del Sol, has two bicycles at your disposal with a bike trail nearby. The area, besides the bike trail, is a great hiking spot, with golf course and climbing spots available as well. If you like watersports more, the coast has plenty of options available. From kayaking and windsurfing to diving and sailing, it has it all. For some additional water fun, we also recommend visiting aquapark Istralandia. This water park is located near city of Novigrad and is great for a day of fun. Full of water slides, pools, and other attractions it is perfect for those that like a bit of adrenaline rush.
