I had a really great stay here & if I ever return to Kathmandu I will stay here again! The roof deck is even better than the photos make it look — you have a 360 degree view of the city. The air up there is cool and breezy and it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a beer and read a book. The space is private and a nice respite from the hectic nature of Thamel. There is a little noise on weekend nights like some reviews say, but it was in no way intrusive — I put in earplugs and was lulled to sleep by muffled city sounds. Arjan & the rest of the staff at the Pala hotel were kind, accommodating, and helpful. I had excellent service and felt so welcomed during my stay. Fair warning — you climb like 7 flights of stairs, so if you’re not up to doing that a few times a day you might want to stay elsewhere!! Personally though, I felt the climb was worth it every time.

Gut gelegenes Airbnb mitten in Thamel, allerdings etwas unsauber. Positiv war der große Außenbereich mit einer guten Aussicht auf Kathmandu.

Great stay for value. In the heart of Thamel, walkable to Durbar Square (about a 20 minute walk). Definitely put the hotel/bar name in Google maps for easy directions, and be prepared for the cab driver to want the hotel phone number, they prefer to just call for directions. Team on arrival was very flexible and accommodating when I checked in. Ended up checking in to the hotel as I was recovering from food poisoning and wanted a little more comfort, but place as described. No AC, shower over toilet, deck amazing, though another person was on the rooftop when I arrived, so maybe not so private.
