What an amazing stay during our road trip through Hida-Takayama! The architect’s house is gorgeous, sitting right above a flowing river which you can hear all hours of the day and fall asleep to at night. Lots of space, cozy living room, beautiful bedroom, with all listed amenities and even heated floors. The private onsen was an added bonus; you can enjoy a hot springs dip while looking out to a vista of the forest. Our host Sumi was also very friendly and responsive, always ready to provide instructions and answer questions, making us feel right at home. The real highlight is the housekeeper, Mr Umemoto! Ume-san, who stays in a cabin within walking distance from the main house, was there to see us through check-in and provided a detailed walkthrough of the house and all its amenities. He was so friendly, helpful, and had a lovely sense of humor. Even helped us with figuring out laundry late at night! So much warmth. We highly recommend this place to future travelers. 10/10!

What an extraordinary house and so worth visiting. We really loved the onsen and the sunken kitchen and the nature bath by the river. It’s a truely fabulous house and I just wish we had more time there. I would bring more wine and good Hida beef to cook on the open fire if I could! Also a massive thank you for all the help organising getting to and from our other destinations. And it was a real pleasure meeting Umemoto the housekeeper. What a truely memorable and unique stay! I hope we can one day return.

La mejor estancia de mi vida en cualquier Airbnb u hotel. La casa es un museo en mitad de un paraje natural increíble. Merece cada centavo invertido. No lo dudes y disfruta de ese lugar mágico! ♥️♥️♥️

Our family loved the environment, it was snowy and peaceful outside but quite cozy inside. Basically we feel comfortable living here, it's like our own home. We went to a meat shop in the city and bought Hida Wagyu beef and some hot pot. We had a great time having dinner around sunken hearth. There are some small animals around this house, rabbits and deer may appear. Hope to have a chance to come here again in summer.

Stunning villa in a secluded area. Taatedul architecture design. We are lucky to be able to enjoy a white snowy view due to heavy snowfall earlier. Kids enjoying playing in the snow. 30mins drive from Takayama Town. A perfect place for a family getaway trip if you want privacy and peace.
