Hans exemplifies the true Mauritian spirit: warm, responsive, and genuinely friendly. It's unfortunate that the house doesn't match his commendable character. While the living room offers a touch of coziness, the house overall is in dire need of maintenance. A leaking roof has led to notable damage to the walls and ceiling. Showering became a challenge with clogged showerheads. The nearby ongoing construction, active from 6am to 11pm even on weekends, means constant noise disturbances. Moreover, the neighborhood is troubled by aggressive stray dogs; I was bitten during a jog, and their incessant barking guarantees sleepless nights. We booked for a month but left after two weeks, and Hans graciously refunded us for the unused time.

Starting with the Hosts - 5 star rating is a huge understatement. Kind, attentive, helpful, responsive – exceptional! Although our arrival was delayed Hans and Jo took us for a drive to see festive streets with food sharing as part of a local holiday - really appreciated. So many nice things – water, coffee and much more. Arranged airport drive very helpful. The House – quiet location, no busy roads, kind of remote, you can enjoy a walk along the river. Car is a must have in my opinion, Cascavelle shopping mall with a good grocery store is a 15 minute drive. The house looks as you see it in the pictures. Open plan kitchen with living room is really nice and comfortable. Great add-on is the soundbar, Nintendo, PS4, Netflix, Showmax – that was great - especially during the cyclone day! Very nice garden, place to sit outside. Downside to mention is that the A/C is only in one bedroom and the house gets really hot, but that seems to be the way it is with houses in Mauritius.
