We had a fantastic stay at Nina’s place. Everything was as described in the listing. Apartment was very clean, private, and quiet. Highly recommend.
The apartment is very well located, very quiet location, nearby metro station, means easy access to all major touristic places. Bakery and grocery store are very close. Very clean and well equipped apartment. The only negative point is , 1 bathroom sometimes was not enough for 4 people. We really recommend the place….
QUARTIER CHINOIS
The golden triangle bounded by avenues de Choisy, d'Ivry and rue de Tolbiac is the temple of made in china in Paris. This is where mass is celebrated in Cantonese, neon signs glow in sinograms and shops are protected by pagoda roofs. Here, the corridors of the shopping malls smell of papaya, the boutiques offer beautiful silk tunics, and you can taste the best Tonkinese soups. In this district, shop shelves overflow with decorative objects and other knick-knacks, white marble sculptures, enchanting landscape paintings, collections of karaoke DVDs, manga and newspapers in Chinese characters... But be warned: most stores are open every day of the week except Monday!
Last but not least, if you're lucky enough to be in the area between mid-January and mid-February, you should know that every year the district is set ablaze by the Chinese New Year. Parades of meter-long dragons, colorful kites and resounding gongs enchant the strollers and inhabitants of the Asian quarter for a month (two weeks before Chinese New Year and two weeks after).
If you're in the mood for pho, bo bun or slices of Peking duck on a bed of Cantonese rice, this is the neighborhood to look for. The 13th arrondissement is home to a vast cuisine featuring Vietnamese, Cambodian, Thai and Chinese specialties. Asian restaurants and patisseries offer deliciously exotic tastes at affordable prices, while supermarkets stock up on tofu, shrimp fritters, shiitake mushrooms, nori leaves and beef jerky... There's plenty for gourmets and budding chefs. When it comes to culinary shopping, local connoisseurs are particularly fond of the Tang Frères supermarket. Here, you'll find the most typical Asian specialties, from rare, undiscovered vegetables to the most classic dishes.
As for tea lovers, l'Empire des Thés is a veritable embassy of Chinese tea, offering no fewer than 200 varieties. Don't hesitate to take the time to enjoy a cup of tea in this charming house with its traditional Chinese decor.
PARC MONTSOURIS
The Parc Montsouris is planted with 1,400 trees, many of them over a hundred years old.
Parc Montsouris is a favorite place to relax for students from the nearby Cité Universitaire, who make the most of the wide lawns open to the public in fine weather. Relax in the shade of its 1,400 trees, many of them over a hundred years old. The "arbre aux quarante écus" (Ginkgo Biloba) is the largest tree on the lakeshore. In autumn, its intense yellow foliage is reflected in the lake. Next to the Météo France Pavilion, a giant American sequoia shows off its swollen trunk, and on the plateau above the lake, a majestic Oriental plane tree impresses with its remarkable span.
It follows a trapezoidal layout of three vast lawns planted with groves and separated by three bridges. The old railroad tracks are hidden in tree-lined ravines.
The landscape is punctuated by numerous bronze and stone sculptures.
Mallard ducks, two long-necked black swans and a white swan, roam the lake constantly. The male duck can be recognized by its green head, yellow beak, white collar and chocolate plastron, while the female is brownish.
