This gorgeous holiday home is everything you want from a seaside break – literally just a few yards from the shore on the outskirts of the quaint village of Collieston, you will not tire from the sound of the waves and the everchanging seascape. Commanding panoramic views towards the sea, there is a seating area which looks directly onto the shore and is a perfect spot to have an al fresco meal or a drink after a day out exploring the fascinating coastline. The cottage has been carefully furnished with a bright interior, complemented by the owners’ artistic touch. The property is set in a generous paved area with a secluded decked seating area to the side of the house – a real sheltered suntrap, while inside the cosy rooms are perfect in less clement weather. There is plenty to see and do in the area: nearby Cruden Bay is home to a world class golf course which attracts many visitors through the year while to the north the brooding presence of Slains Castle, widely acknowledged to be the inspiration behind Bram Stoker’s Dracula is well worth a visit. Nearby The Bullers of Buchan, an awesome natural phenomenon where the sea rushes into a vertical cavern, is an absolute must. For wildlife lovers, here you are based within Forvie Nature Reserve, with walks right from the doorstep where you can enjoy the stunning scenery of sand dunes and swirling waters. Visit Newburgh beach, home to the largest colony of seals in Scotland. The city of Aberdeen is just 23 miles away offering all modern facilities and the coastal trail north takes in many other quaint villages offering many a pleasant day out. Beach 10 meters away. The property is as described on the website. We received clear instructions from our host how to find the cottage before hand and he was there when we arrived. He showed us around the cottage explaining how everything worked. It was well appointed, very clean and tidy. A lovely view of the cove, beach and the sea from the lounge window. There was a well stocked welcome pack, as there is no shop in the village. Nearest supermarket 5 miles away. Plenty of sandy beaches and good walks close by, a nature reserve where seals bask on the beach at Newburgh. The Inn there serves good meals there is also a golf course with a very modern clubhouse. Great place for a holiday.
The hosts have tried very hard. We were delighted with the accommodation and the fantastic view of the sea. Thank you very much for the wonderful time.
Absoulte gem of a place. Tucked away by the sea and surrounded by beautiful places to explore. The house was gorgeous and had everything imaginable provided. We had an absolutely lovely stay and felt happy and comfortable in this wonderful home.
The cottage was beautifully decorated, the furniture was comfortable, and Ed and Emma treated us to a gift basket of snacks and drinks. The view of the sea was wonderful and so peaceful. There's very little to do in terms of food and entertainment unless you have transportation out of Collieston. I am a wildlife enthusiast, however, and spent all my time walking along the coastal path spotting birds, seals, and dolphins. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking your own meals, but there were some good options just a short 20 minute drive away. We cannot wait to go back!
