The house was great. We were having a reunion of friends from all over the country. The host was super flexible about check in, as I had a 6am arrival. We were able to use the grill and the kitchen to feed ourselves. The Fridge was huge and held all our food. They even offered us the use of their massive spice rack. Tons of space and enough room to have privacy and quiet when sleeping. 11/10. Loved our stay.

The house was easy the find and well located close to Glen Ellyn, where our friends' house was. Ample space for parking and stretching the family out.

I want to start with the great things about the house and the host. The host was easy to communicate with. If we had a question or issue she was quick to respond. This was helpful since we were there during a busy holiday. The house had all the space we needed for 5 family members. It was nice having the two sitting areas. My daughter-in-law was especially excited about the reclining seats in the sectional in the lower area. The Kitchen was a great size as we prepared a large Christmas meal. Also, the host had plenty of supplies available. This was a huge benefit on Christmas Day when all of the stores were closed. Lastly, it was nice having access to the washer and dryer and the detergent for our clothes. There were also some challenges. Upon arrival we noticed the kitchen had not been cleaned. The countertops had crusty food on it, the microwave was not cleaned, the stove was not cleaned, the floors were actually disgusting, the blinds in the kitchen had obvious food and dirt and the refrigerator was completely stocked with random food items as if a family was living there the night before. This was an issue since we rented the whole house to host Christmas dinner and brought groceries with us. So when we saw the fridge we had no idea how our food would fit. We called the host and she came right over and cleaned the kitchen and cleared the refrigerator out for us. This was inconvenient because we had planned to come in and start dinner and prep for Christmas dinner but we had to wait as she cleaned. I wish this was the only issue. However, we discovered other areas in the house were not cleaned and then we discovered a crazy ant issue our first day there. We had to mop all of the floors ourselves after spraying the ants because we didn’t want the host to come back and interrupt our family time. At least two of our family members suffered from some sort of insect bites. We sent pics to the host. The home as a whole was not hotel clean, it wasn’t even basic clean. I believe the only thing that felt clean was the sheets on the bed. As for expectations, the home is older but does not seem to have been kept up very well. However, even with that, if the host would actually do a deep clean of the house it has the potential to be very comfortable. I hope the host takes this feedback to heart because she has what it takes to become a Superhost.
