The cabin is ten minutes from Oban, situated a few miles up a glen off the A85 at Connel onto the "back road". Take the turn off just below the iconic Connel Bridge, then pass under the railway bridge. After the long straight nip over the cattle grid and up the wee hill. Shortly after as you go downhill take the first left (before the wheelie bins) onto a forest road type single track. Follow this road past the old caravan, over the small bridge and just under a mile up through the new croft settlements keeping left and guided by "The Rut" wooden signs. There is a brown cabin similar to ours on the right hand side as you drive up please note this is not ours which is grey The road is rustic but will look after you if you drive slowly. The cabin has its own car park large enough for most kinds of car including small van or motorhome. It is advisable to reverse for departing in the dark as there are no street lights which does give us amazing dark skies. Connel village is a twenty five minute walk or five minute car journey. There are plenty walks straight from the door into the countryside including a quiet glen which takes you into Oban on foot or bike with little time on the main road.
Connel village has regular buses heading into Oban and the surrounding area as well as a train service from Oban passing through to Glasgow. Oban has a network of ferries to the West coast Islands some of which can be easily visited in a day either on foot, bike or car.
We are perfectly based to go and explore the great outdoors with forestry walks, beaches for wild swimming, mountains for climbing and islands to visit. We are also just an hours drive to Nevis Range Fort William handy for day trips - skiing and mountain biking.
The Oban Pipe Band play in the Oban town square every Wednesday night through summer definitely worth a look
