Teotitlán del Valle · 整套小木屋 · 2室2床2.0卫 · 可住4人 · Casa Montagnola: naturaleza y tranquilidad
Serene and spacious house in the mountains where you literally coexist with nature. A large bedroom built with adobe, 2 bathrooms with hot water, a loft, and a kitchen with tiles by Toledo, the Oaxacan painter. Come to a place far from the city to concentrate on creative activities (excursions, walks...), and surround yourself with the landscapes of the mountains in Oaxaca. The natural spaces around the rooms obey the capricious growth of nature and the freedom of fauna. Vigorous Wifi. Casa Montagnola is a spacious cabin-style house in the mountains where you feel stimulated by nature. These are 160 square meters in 2 constructions located in a space of 2000 square meters with endemic trees of the region and wild nature. Its two rooms inspire quietness, they have large windows to appreciate the landscape towards the Picacho hill and the chain of mountains: there is a large adobe bedroom that will keep you isolated from the external temperature, and there’s also a 75-square-meter loft where there’s a dining room, you can work at a secluded table or sleep on the double futon originally intended for guests. The kitchen has a handmade touch with tiles by the painter Francisco Toledo. And Casa Montagnola has two large bathrooms made with materials from the region, both with hot water (solar heaters). The rhomboid wooden windows are the distinctive symbol of Casa Montagnola's country architecture. You will have serenity. If you want to be outside the city, or you are searching for a residence to concentrate on creative activities, be surrounded by the landscapes of the Oaxaca mountains and its harmless fauna, and breathe fresh air, this is the right place. The internet antenna allows you to connect your electronic devices and communicate with the rest of the world. To inhabit Casa Montagnola for a few days it is necessary to have the desire to live with nature, since it´s a space that is located in the middle of the original flora and fauna of the Oaxaca Sierra Norte and in the upper part of the town. By Walking, you can reach the local market, and by car or other transports you can go to the City of Oaxaca, El Tule, Mitla, Hierve el Agua and other places of interest. There are several restaurants in the area —modest, and two with more sophisticated cuisine— and you can go to the handicraft market where handmade wool rugs are sold, dyed with vegetable colors, which are the specialty of the region. You can visit the Community Cultural Center that briefly reports on the Zapotec culture and the customs of its inhabitants. Teotitlán del Valle has a very interesting center where you find the Church of the Precious Blood of Christ, which dates back to the 17th century, and in whose construction stones from the old pre-Hispanic shrines were used, as shown by the reliefs attached to its façade. Don’t forget that this town, inhabited by gentile and native people, was the origin of the Zapotec culture (or place of stones). It is also the safest and cleanest town in the region. For nature lovers, Teotitlán del Valle is a destination of interest since they can undertake excursions to the archaeological zones of the nearby hills, make a pick nick at the Piedra Azul Dam, as well as have a long walk in the mountains, and have news of the flora and fauna in the area. Bicycles are rented at the Community Museum and guides are assigned to lead you through some of these activities. Casa Montagnola is an effort that we have made and inhabited with the complicity of Felipe Neri, an inhabitant of Teotitlán del Valle.
We loved our stay in this beautiful rustic cottage that overlooks the Picacho mountain, highly recommended! Gloria was very helpful and Yolanda very communicative. The room we stayed in is separated from the main kitchen and living room area, which has an amazing view of the mountain. Very big space for 2 people and would comfortably fit 4. The only tricky part was transportation in and out since the Airbnb is located on a dirt road with no signage, so our taxi couldn't find it even with the written directions (he was from out of town). Better to get there during the day or have your own car, or arrive to the main square and then get a mototaxi up the hill. Hope to visit again!
Yolanda's home is very beautifully appointed with lovely simple details everywhere. The view from the living room is amazing! The water is drinkable from the tap which I have never experienced in Mexico. The home is architectural and feels breezy and clean. You are definitely getting off the grid which is amazing. The location is great if you want to hike mount Picacho (buy your tickets in the town center first) which I highly recommend, one of the best hikes I've ever been on. But do note the location is a bit tricky to find so be sure to print the directions for your driver. Its down a dirt driveway which can be easily passed. The walk to town is about 10-15 minutes, don't miss the morning market!
Teotitlán del Valle ("place of the gods" in Nahuatl) is famous thanks to the quality and beauty of its woolen textile products, such as rugs made on large wooden looms and decorated with natural dyes. It is a very kind community with very good taste in its crafts.
By Walking, you can reach the local market, and by car or other transports you can go to the City of Oaxaca, El Tule, Mitla, Hierve el Agua and other places of interest. There are mototaxies to go from one place to another inside the town.
