We had a wonderful stay here. It was just like a fairytale! Having fires in the fireplace was so relaxing and beautiful and the grounds were breathtaking at sunset. Lots of things to do within a 30 minute drive, but also plenty to do if you want to stay in. Such a cool experience for the adults and young kids in our group! Just some notes to consider: you will have to go up and down a spiral staircase and it does smell musty and there are some bugs, but all to be expected in a castle of this age!

Very unique trip. The castle is definitely cool to experience and the location on the West Coast is convenient to the Cliffs of Moher, Doolin, and Ennistymon. 10 minutes to all 3. This is what you are expecting when you think of an Ireland trip.

Smithstown castle is an amazing experience and a must for everyone!

We were a group of 4 couples that stayed in the castle for 2 nights. It did not disappoint! The combination of modern facilities and the old castle was flawless! one of the best bits was having no TV and WiFi and just enjoying each others company. We stayed in the Friday night, bringing our own food and drinks and board games. The second night we went out to Doolin for dinner and drinks. The castle is in a perfect location as it is near Doolin, Ennistymon and Lisdoonvarna. The highlight of the stay had to be finding all the medieval costumes in one of the wardrobes. Great fun and laughter was had. We were all on a well deserved weekend break away from our kids, but we ended up acting just like them!! Jade was a great caretaker, being very helpful. Would definitely recommend a stay in the castle.
