I recently had the pleasure of staying at San Quentin, a charming rustic studio perfectly nestled at the end of a street. This cozy one-bed studio offers a unique experience with an outdoor shower that provides stunning bay views. The location couldn’t be better, conveniently situated near San Francisco, Oakland, San Rafael, and a scenic drive away from Napa Valley. Despite its proximity to so many vibrant areas, it was incredibly peaceful, making it easy to unwind. The bed was extremely comfortable, complemented by a thick comforter that was perfect for a good night’s sleep. Given its compact size, it’s ideal for one or two people who don’t mind close quarters. My stay was wonderful, and I would happily recommend this spot to anyone looking for a quiet getaway. I would definitely stay again.

Place was as described. We stayed in the private cabin in the very back. Small but wonderful. Great views and not far from amenities in san rafael. Great experience at a good rate.

I love Lisa’s place. I’ve stayed in both spaces and there’s a unique charm to both. It truly feels like being over at a friend’s house with the comforting energy, sweet pups, and Lisa’s hospitality. Views are incredible, it’s quiet, and the succulent garden is beautiful.

Perfect spot after a late flight into town! Cozy bed with an extra blanket, great interior design, option for outdoor shower, beautiful porch and views of the water. Lisa was super responsive and gave great directions to the cabin. Everything was as described!

I've been a host since the early days of Airbnb - almost a decade at a couple of locations in Santa Barbara. I joined to create a local, affordable alternative to the expensive vacation stay rentals in that area, and I fell in love with the constant flow of happy travelers bringing excited, relaxed energy to my home. I stopped mid-COVID and sold my Santa Barbara property to relocate to Marin County, where I grew up. My new Airbnb rentals bring a confluence of the Southern California warmth and open-heartedness to the original Bay Area countercultural/art vibe I grew up in. I am an artist/writer and professional astrologer who has always wanted to create special enclaves in my home spaces that are filled with light, space, color - and character. To that end, notice I live next to San Quentin Prison - a blend of institutional intensity and beautiful architecture. It's along the water and away from the din of Marin's main bustle, but also features an armed guard 100 yards away. The presence of the prison is what attracted me to this location, because it is 'real' and more sobering than a lot of the affluence and material indulgence of the Bay Area in recent years. Being in an 1888 Victorian that was built in the earliest era of the prison is historic and beautiful, and my goal is to preserve it and the old school experience of being from this region before it boomed with the internet generation.
