had a great weekend stay. Linda was very helpful & allowed us an earlier check in. the kitchens had lots of basic items in stock (tea / coffee etc). It's a beautiful location, easy to find with a fab pub near by! We also went walking & running locally, as everything was in easy reach. The number of bedrooms etc was great for our family gathering. Linda wason hand if we needed anything but everything went smoothly. Highly recommend to others looking for a stunning, country break.
We had a great time. The accommodation was perfect for a large family get together. It had all we needed for a comfortable and relaxed stay. The location was ideal and we had some spectacular views. Would definitely recommend!
Linda was a wonderfully accommodating host, and we really enjoyed our stay at her property. The three cottages worked out perfectly for our family gathering, allowing each couple to have personal space, and congregate in the largest cottage as a communal area. The surroundings are beautiful, although the weather sadly wasn’t the best for us to really make the most of them! Thank you again!
We were celebrating a 60th birthday as a family and having the use of all three voyages was ideal. A very comfortable family get together. Linda was a great host and the flowers and fresh fruit were a nice touch.
We don’t have many neighbours close by. Just fields and sheep mainly. The nearest village is Longnor, 2 miles away. It has a corner shop which sells everything. A fish and chip shop to eat in or take out and a cafe, popular during the day with walkers and cyclists.
Buxton Spa is wonderful and is 6 miles away. The Crescent has recently been restored with lottery money and is a landmark of interest to visit. Pavilion Gardens has a large park with water features and a large children’s play area. Also, a miniature ride on railway. There is a public swimming pool and a restaurant for lunch. Chatsworth House is near to us and was the film set home of Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice. A trip to Bakewell while you are over that way is a must. Don’t forget your Bakewell Tart from the original bakers in the town centre.
Beer lovers should visit Buxton Brewery. Regular pop up food tents offer good food to go with a good beer. Tissington Trail offers miles of walking and cycling along the old railway line. A train from Buxton station will deliver you into the heart of Manchester for great shopping and night life. Theatre lovers should make sure they visit the Buxton Opera House. A program of events can be viewed on line. Markets are a regular event in Buxton on Tuesday’s and Saturday’s, also in Leek and Bakewell. There are Christmas markets for those visiting in the festive season and are a must see event, particularly the light parade in Buxton which everyone can join and enjoy. You will probably find that a weekend just isn’t enough time to see and do everything! I put leaflets in the cottages to give you some ideas about what you can do.
Walking on public footpaths that link the villages. Car drives to see spectacular scenery. Bike rides to enjoy the outdoors and local busses that cover the rural area are available. Taxis cover the area for those big nights out and there is a mini bus hire company just up the road to take a group of you out and about together.

I am an ex- lecturer in Early Years and Education. I am now running a holiday letting business in the Peak District National Park. I own the land locally. I enjoy rural life and wildlife. My family and I enjoy a visit to a local pub. We shop in Buxton for our bread, meats, fruit and vegetables from local shops and the market on Saturdays. We enjoy having our lovely farming neighbours over to the farmhouse for Christmas and special occasions.
