If you are looking for a simple but very clean and safe place to hang your hat, I recommend this place. Very well kept, and as a solo female I felt safe there. Theodora and her son were generally responsive. I enjoyed being in a local neighborhood away from the tourist hot spots. My only complaints are that when I arrived the place was extremely hot and there was no cold water, because the fridge was unplugged. I was advised that using the AC involved an additional charge of 100 pesos (about $6) a day. Which is reasonable. But just wish that I had known that before I arrived, so that AC could have been turned on beforehand. Also, would have enjoyed some cold water to drink after travelling in intense heat and humidity. Overall, though, I would say that Teodora’s place is good value for the cost, especially if you like getting away from the tourist mobs and seeing how locals live, while still being a half hour walk (or 100 pesos cab ride) to the marginal where all the action is.

This was a great place to stay for a couple nights in Cozumel. It was clean, easy to walk to the main plaza and some good restaurants nearby, and it was a great deal. Teodora was very responsive and friendly. One thing to note is that the room does have an AC unit but she charges a little extra to use it (very worth it on hot days). I’d recommend staying here!

My partner and I spent 1 week at Teo’s house and we had a great time! Teo was always there to answer any questions we had and gave us great local insights. Teo is an excellent host, always taking care of her home and garden. The house where we stayed was basic yet charming. The kitchen had great essentials so we could cook our breakfast every morning. The bed was comfortable and we didn’t need an AC at night. Thank you Teo - we hope to come back next winter!

Theodora’s place located in between the Cozumel airport and the marina docks. About 20 mins walk from the airport (or $100 peso from the airport to her place within 5 mins) and 10 mins walk to the dock. Location basically is her backyard studio apartments, local stores are around and supermarkets are within walking distance. They have a friendly big dog who loves to eat nachos and you do share the garden view with the family where you can play with her dog. I do recommend her place to single or a couple who want to explore the ocean activities and relax. I was here for scuba diving but the weather wasn’t allow me to dive for couple of days but then overall everything are amazing in this island.
