诺福克(Norfolk) · 整套联排别墅 · 2室3床2.0卫 · 可住5人 · Characterful town house on Elm Hill
Situated on Norwich's historic Elm Hill, this luxurious townhouse offers the perfect blend of comfort, contemporary design and character. Its quirky interior reflects its 500 year old life as a weavers house, now updated for modern city living. It backs onto a park and river walks. Dogs are welcome! There are two double bedrooms and a sofa-bed in sitting room. We are sorry but the steep staircases and uneven floors make it unsuitable for young children or those with limited mobility. 32a Elm Hill is located directly on Elm Hill a medieval cobbled street in Norwich's Cathedral Quarter. The front door is found through the black wooden gates and stone archway. GROUND FLOOR LOBBY Inside the property a large lobby provides ample space to leave suitcases, boots and coats whilst you explore. The old windows, stone arches, and oak beams recall the property's past life as an old weavers house. Wide and uneven stairs lead up to double height landing on the first floor. Please use the handrails and switch on the lights! FIRST FLOOR LIVING AREA (7 metres x 4.5 metres) On the first floor a light filled open plan living area runs the full length of the house. It is arranged as a comfortable seating area around an electric stove (sorry no open fires allowed ) , a dining area and a modern open plan kitchen. Windows on three sides provide street views of Elm Hill and the river Wensum behind the house. A small double sofa bed is available upon request to provide more flexibility for your sleeping arrangements and/or sleeping for an additional fifth guest. Please note the linen curtains are not blackout lined so a sleeping mask may be a good idea for those who prefer total darkness. BEDROOM 1 & EN SUITE (7.5 metres x 3.5 metres) A dramatic flight of carpeted stairs lit by a sputnik chandelier lead up to the large attic bedroom. The stairs are steep and have a narrow tread. Please take care! This groovy room is a cool and playful space with retro ice cream lights, an egg chair, a sloping beamed ceiling and king sized bed. At one end of the attic is a luxurious en suite bathroom with stand alone bath tub. BEDROOM 2 (4 metres x 2.5 metres) A few steps from the sitting room is a luxurious double bedroom with built in wardrobe and tiled roof views. We hope the hotel standard mattress and the range of thick and thin pillows, will give you an excellent nights sleep. The beamed walls date from the house's early 17th century origins. This is a small bedroom compared to the attic bedroom, so we hope its cosiness is offset by the large family bathroom. FAMILY BATHROOM (3.5 metres x 2.5 metres) There is a large and luxurious family bathroom with standalone roll top bath and separate walk in shower. The character and age of the property has been matched with modern amenities. There is super fast wi-fi in all the rooms and a modern kitchen. The TV in the sitting room has Free-View which gives you access to the BBC i-player and ITVX. We are sorry there is no washing machine - but there is a local launderette nearby. This tranquil townhouse is a peaceful place to spend time and relax. However just outside the front door you can take your pick of the cobbled streets of the Cathedral Quarter, the indie shops, bars and restaurants of the Norwich Lanes or meandering walks along the River Wensum.
We really enjoyed our stay and Andy was the perfect host, answering our queries in a friendly and timely manner. The location was perfect for exploring Norwich and very close to the river walk and lots of places to eat and drink. The stairs to the attic bedroom were quite steep and not suitable for anyone with any mobility issues. The kitchen was well equipped and all the rooms were spotlessly clean and tidy. We really enjoyed using the record player and locally there are many shops that sell 2nd hand vinyl if that is of interest to you. Would definitely book again next time we stay in Norwich.
Chic and characterful decor. Really high quality bed linen. Characterful house. Gorgeous!
Elm Hill is perfectly located in the heart of the City between the historical sights of the Cathedral Quarter and the shops, bars and restaurants of the Norwich Lanes.
Its characterful cobbled street and picture perfect Tudor buildings make Elm Hill one of Norwich's most visited destinations. Please visit our friends and neighbours and support our local businesses! Have a chat with Lisa, the silversmith in Stoned and Hammered, or browse through the collectables and antiques at Antiques and Interiors - run by Patrick and Lizzy. And don’t miss taxidermist James tucked away in Wrights Court.
There are innumerable other treasures to discover nearby - like Looses Emporium - alongside great pubs (shout out to our local The Ribs of Beef) and cafes along Magdalen Street and nearby St. Andrews. You are a stones throw from indie cinema, Cinema City alongside popular city venues like The Halls and The Playhouse.
For culture vultures you will find plenty of cobbled streets, medieval churches, merchants houses and ancient bridges. Enjoy the breathtaking sights of Norwich Cathedral and cloisters. Take a leisurely stroll along the river Wensum or hire a canoe from Pub and Paddle behind the house and enjoy the city and her waterside pubs from the water.
A ten minute walk will take you to Norwich's open air market and Castle. NUA is on your doorstep, whilst UEA and the Sainsburys Centre are a fifteen minute bus ride. Further afield there are the Norfolk Broads and the Coast - perfect for a day out and easily accessible by bus, car or train.
Please note that whilst Elm Hill enjoys a tranquil location away from the hustle and bustle of the city traffic, the nearby bars and restaurants can result in a lively atmosphere in the evenings.
Elm Hill is a cobbled street! Take care especially if its wet!
We are easy to find! Just follow the signs to the Cathedral and, when you reach Tomb Land, turn up Princes Street and follow it around to Elm Hill.
There is no free car parking, however Monastery Court car park is a pay and display car park at the top of Elm Hill on the banks of the River Wensum. It is a large spacious open air car park. Our back gate leads directly to it, making it an easy place to park whilst you unpack your car and settle in.
We are only a 15 minute walk from the railway station. If you have time on your hands we recommend you take the scenic route along the river, door to door!
